We'll need AJ healthy and on his A game in 2018. Here are some of the RB's on the Saints calendar this season.

Zeke (Cowboys)
Barkley
Guice
Freeman (face him TWICE)
LeVeon Bell
Gurley
McCaffery (face him TWICE)

All good to ELITE caliber of RB's we have to somehow bottle up. AJ's availability (Anzalone as well) on game day will be paramount.

BOLD * - IMO elite at the position.

They'll all be so far behind by halftime that they'll be forced to abandon the run game.

19-0 Baby!

Yes. 50 out of 51 times.
I guess if you play the odds you have to be right once in a half century.

Have you seen Davis' closing-speed and tackling? I think he will be a game-changer in run stopping at MLB.

Yep. The guy appears to have the entire package & has been well coached over the years. He said he's played in 3 different defenses over his career so he'll adapt well. Our LB core as a whole could be special this season.

Seen some suggestions lately that Klein could be on the trading block. Took a look at his contract to see if it was financially feasible and it is:

POST-6/1 TRADE
2018 Dead Cap: $1,000,000
2019 Dead Cap: $2,000,000
2018 Cap Savings: $4,200,000

What are you going to gain with cap savings that out-weighs depth at a vital position?

Seriously, someone tell me a logical reason why Klein should be traded and how it would positively benefit the Saints. Philosophical question here.

Slow football day so I thought I'd throw this nugget out there. https://www.canalstreetchronicles.co...ston-suspended

Pure speculation by a beat reporter but it's a good talking point. New HC Sean McD & Klein do have a connection from Carolina and the Bills are LB "needy". I'd rather keep AJ but he needs to improve his play.

I might wait to see how the lb.'s shake out in training camp. A healthy Klein could go a long way, kind of like a healthy Ellerbe did. But he's going to have to prove it. So far we know he's not made for the middle. Going to be interesting in camp at OLB?

Anzalone(weak), Davis(middle), Klein(strong) would be a serious upgrade in the middle of the defense...

Reminds me of Shanlee, Vilma, Fujita but more athletic.

What ever we do, we'd better have six (6), nay seven (7) NFL quality linebackers to deal with the inevitable attrition that is the NFL - see 2017 season...

I'd love to have Luke Kuechly, Lavonte David, and Telvin Smith as our 43 Lbers, but when one goes down, who do they have?

Give me six guys that can play all three positions that you can move around, keeping them fresh, and confusing lesser offenses...

Don't forget we still have Stupar, Te'o, and Robertson as depth

And either Mauti was struggling again with health and maintaining weight, or the two rookie UDFA looked better that he was released...

On paper, the 2018 LB group appears to be solid.

Missed opportunities (fumbles & INT's) in 2017 is partially the reason he (Klein) graded out low. I'll be curious to see if Nolan slides him over to SAM full time.

I only wish Demario was 25 instead of 29 years of age. Saints must capitalize on his ability this season.

It's our time.

And deep, we're at least six deep; and this unit looks as good as the 2009/10 LB corps...

Let's compare the 2018 Training Camp Roster to the 2009/10 Championship Roster...

'09 SLB 55 - Scott Fujita, 54 - Troy Evans
'18 SLB 53 - A.J. Klein, 44 - Hau'oli Kikaha/55 – Jayrone Elliot (RFC)

'09 MLB 51 - Jonathan Vilma, 50 - Marvin Mitchell
'18 MLB 56 - DeMario Davis, 51 - Manti Te'o/54 - Nate Stupar/58 - Colton Jumper

'09 WLB 58- Scott Shanle, 59 - Anthony Waters, 52 - Jonathan Casillas
'18 WLB 47 - Alex Anzalone, 52 - Craig Robertson/59 - KeShun Freeman

Hau'oli Kikaha/55 ... "bubble" player perhaps.

Kikaha just lacks the speed to run with tight ends, running backs in coverage...

He really should be on a 3-4 defense which is what we drafted him and Anthony to do...
