How Kurt Coleman Might Add Another Layer Of Deception To Saints Defense

Re: How Kurt Coleman Might Add Another Layer Of Deception To Saints Defense
Underrated signing of the season. This quote speaks volumes
New Orleans didn’t hesitate to sign the veteran safety this offseason after he was released by the Carolina Panthers, inking him to a three-year deal worth more than $16 million before free agency ever opened. The Saints knew right away he was someone who could help this young secondary achieve even greater heights. |

The Panthers had him bounced around last year. Kurt has the ability to play in the box and deep. Versatile player with high football IQ.
His diversity will definitely help us on the back end. Solid compliment to Bell & Williams. |

Dennis Allen can run the two deep safety concept now that he covets. KV tried to start out there last year and was moved bock in the box where he is best after just a couple of weeks into the season. Kurt Coleman might really help when the defense wants to morph from one look to another without having to roll players or show your hand from the cover two look.

Tidbit on Kurt ... he played through injury (ankle) last season before going on IR. I expect him to play well this year. Another high IQ guy w/ball hawking/coverage skills.
More importantly for me is that Kurt is an extremely disciplined player. Flagged only once in a stretch of 45 games. By comparison, Kenny had 17 over the same span. Williams, PRob, Kurt & Bell ... I think the young guys will gel well with the experienced veterans on the back end. |

Bell has not impressed me much at all. He looks like another Harper, Bush, Vaccaro type. I'd prefer Vaccaro over Bell. Glad we have Coleman and Williams.

And most important for Coleman, this was the only move that guaranteed he would never, ever have to try and tackle Kamara again. I just watched a bunch of Kamara’s highlights earlier today. I almost felt sorry for Coleman. Almost.

Coleman gives the team a mature, responsible, reliable, accountable veteran role model in a young defensive backs room where the others are 25yo or younger...

Here is a recent article on Vonn Bell. Maybe with the addition of Kurt in the secondary, VB confidence takes a step forward. This is year 3 & it's time to produce at the position.
