Welcome back and I was just joking about the ice cream cone, it was 4.50 seconds and yes AG my brain was frozen like a block of ice in my brain. What did he just say?

If only the players would protest on their own dime and time.

Re: I've changed my mindset and I'm coming back
welcome back Noog.
My first Saints board was Site-X, which dripped with politics. I could not figure out why the atmosphere was so intensely nasty there--so full of hate, and later I figured it out. 1. The most prominent posters were extremists, never mind which side. 2. Most of the prominent, loud voices there were mama's basement caliber nerds. I was a bit stung, because they said things there to me that no Falcons fan ever said, until I realized, these were people who had been picked on in school, and apparently figured me to be a "Jock." --- I sat out 2017, myself, and I still stand by that decision. I came back for my friends. I've accumulated a large group of friends, who root with me, 30 years, after my initial Saints fandom in the shadow of NWLA, where I thought I was the only Saints fan in Louisiana. Football used to be my LIFE. I came back for New Orleans. The players? meh. they come and go. I used to be a HUGE player apologist. I still hate it when people hate a player for being injured. Should people hate you, if you get in a car wreck? And I rose up when someone hated on players for their money. I think its indictitive of my historic love of players, that it took me a cold shower of facts, to allow myself to believe that OJ Simpson could ever do anything wrong. I dont know. Maybe we'll have a club of old NFL fans, the way the Baltimore Colts still had a fan club, after they moved to Indy. But these guys, including many of you are my friends... not just on the internet... I know a dozen or so posters here in Real Life-- We've had numerous get togethers, and Ive been as insane as any Saints fan. I was one notch in my fandom, below a costumed stadium character, who dances in the aisles. The change in that should be a case study in marketing and public relations. I know I'm not alone. Now? I honestly dont know if I'll ever Love the players, the way I used to. At this point, I dont trust them. I'm certainly not going to put myself in debt to support them, the way I used to. I didnt leave these guys. They left me. I'm also not going to give the NFL, itself any money via merchandise, etc. For now, I"m back, because I was a Saints fan, before these protesting players were born. I was a New Orleans fan, before any of this, and I Love Louisiana, and if something makes people in Louisiana happy, I'm for it. I'll root for the colors, I guess. I'll root for the team, I guess. |

I'm gonna make a principled stand!
Gonna boycott sumthin! This is boring and no one cares. I'm gonna submit a lengthy post about basically nothing to try and draw attention to myself when no one noticed or cared in the first place. Mission accomplished! I love the Saints, so that makes it all good. |
