He's jumping into the elite stratosphere this year.

He already is elite status. I don't see him getting any more or less targets either. Probably less with the upgrades at WR. He is also a great blocker almost to a fault because that means somebody else is getting those targets.

Beast - Steve Smith agrees with you.

He is also on my FF team just like Steve Smith. Is he ever going to have Julio or Antonio caliber games where he just blows up? Highly unlikely on this team but that has nothing to do with ability. He could have games like that but that is really not our team.

Now tell the truth ... you DROPPED Julio (mid season trade perhaps) last season in favor of Mike? I know from reading your 2017 posts, Julio didn't light up the points for you on your FF team.

I never dropped Julio last season, just paid too much and he screwed me when I needed him!

I actually picked up MT on waivers when the person who drafted him dropped him his rookie season due to the slow start.

We get three keeps so I kept him last year and will keep him again. Who wouldn't for $11. A major steal. Very consistent WR. Won't blow up but just a steady cog wheel.

Yes he does. And hits like the freakin Waterboy. LB for LB he is the best WR IMO right now. Nobody is pushing him out the way without help.

Ok I'm gonna play Max Kellerman. Mike Thomas is great at catching 8 yd posts and curls but if he hits so hard, why doesn't he ever break any tackles? Like ever. It'd also be nice if he could catch a couple more deep balls. I mean Lance Moore caught more fade routes. Ok forum. You play Steven A.

Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great

I see plenty of broken tackles in these highlights, as for the Deep Ball stuff that's just our system. Thomas doesn't have Ted Ginn type speed, so Payton is just playing to Thomas strengths.

Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great

Ok I watched 10 min of 18 of that video. The first 20 catches he makes are 8yd curls or posts with 0 YAC yardage. So far "cant guard Mike" is less than dynamic with the ball in his hands. I'd love to see him attempt to punish some tacklers. In truth when he's running with the ball in traffic he elects to just go down instead of fighting for every yard and keeping his legs turning. Very similar to Jimmy Graham actually. Oh and our system LOVES to take deep shots. Period.

Didn't say our system doesn't take deep shots, I said they are played to the strengths of players, deep patterns are not Thomas' main strength, why else would Ginn have been signed?

He's a great all around WR. Probably the best right now. He is never going to be the Maserati Julio, Antonio Brown guy but on the other hand, they will never be great at blocking. He is an exceptional blocker just like they are great with speed.

I would not at all be surprised to see him targeted more on deep routes if any of our other WR's pan out. One on one, he's going to win most of those.

Agreed. And while he isn't a burner, hes pretty fast for a guy his size, faster than Colston was for sure. I just don't get Billy's criticism. I've seen MT break plenty of tackles.

And who cares if he isn't in the top of the league in yards after the catch...

He still has the most receptions in his first two years ever and consistently moves the chains...
