Kirk Cousins wanted to be drafted by Saints or Patriots to play behind Drew Brees or Tom Brady
 

The New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots had the two picks after Foles was selected No. 88 overall. Despite three years as a Big Ten starter, Cousins admitted he wasn’t ready to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He sat on the edge of his seats for those two selections, hoping to be able to learn from either of their experienced quarterbacks.

“He would’ve loved to be behind (Drew) Brees or (Tom) Brady,” MaryAnn said.

Neither team picked Cousins, and the third round ended with seven quarterbacks off the board. The taco meat went back in the fridge and the celebration was put on hold.

“He was pretty discouraged,” MaryAnn said.

Cousins appears to be a smart Guy, although he would have been like the Maytag Repairman behind his two choices.

If you don’t think you are ready and you have the option of who’s clipboard you will carry, wouldn’t Brees / Brady be the obvious picks?

I’m not sure I’ve ever bought into the whole ‘watching someone play makes you better’ theory... I’ve been watching Drew for over a decade and stil not a worth-a-fk QB.

Good point, plus we had trouble with him when he was in Washington.
That game in 2015 they smoked us 47-14 not to mention the Overtime
game which I still can't believe we wound up winning.

I wanted us to sign Foles bad every time he hit the market. Still think we should have signed him. He would have been perfectly fine sitting behind Brees until he retires.

Cousins is no joke. He had a weak OL and garbage WR's last year. Still put up strong numbers. Very accurate, bigger, stronger and faster than Brees.

I definitely thought Cousins had the ability coming out of Michigan St, but I wonder if we're even having this conversation if RG3 didn't get his leg so messed up.

Cousins is not a runner like RG. He's a pocket passer forced into running due to a bad OL. Last year, his WR's dropped so many balls, then, his main target forgot to show up for the season in Pryor. His RB also was down for the count. Dude was working with slops.

Maybe Taysom Hill is better than Cousins.
