Longtime No Howad
this blurb reminded me of the "they'll do something to keep Howard, sign the rookies, and renegotiate other contracts and sat under the cap" talk...
AP reports the Bucs would like to sign a veteran receiver such as ex-Giant WR Ike Hilliard or an experienced cornerback. But they are virtually out of salary cap room, HC Jon Gruden said. "I think we had $18,000 of room at one point, so you can't sign anybody," he said. "We're out of business. The woodshed is closed. " Bruce (Allen, the general manager) has taken my cell phone away. He won't let me call anyone, he won't let me accept any calls from anyone." The Bucs are about $1.3-million under the salary cap, according to ESPN.com. But in order to sign draft picks, they will need to clear about $6-million. |

Wait until those drafted rookies hit camps and don\'t look quite as good as their hype - teams will be beating down our door for Howard!
I still think that Philly looks like a possibility. They still need an end, and we still need a DT *unless you ask the guys who think this is Sully\'s year). Howard for Simon. Do it. |

she was down in the caribbean, remember danno?
--------------- on the other thread talking about position battles it made me think more about howard. if he stays franchised at 7.8mil and plays some DT that would push 17mil for sully, young, and him. 20% of the payroll for the middle of what was the worst D in the league last year. kinda crazy cap-wise considering production.
