Kenny Vaccaro to the Titans

The*Tennessee Titans*have agreed to a contract with former*Saints*safety Kenny Vaccaro, the team announced Saturday.
Titans starting safety Johnathan Cyprien has a torn ACL and will miss the 2018 season, coach Mike Vrabel announced.

Vaccaro, 27, worked out for the Titans on Friday after starting safety*Johnathan Cyprien*was diagnosed with a torn ACL on Thursday.
Vaccaro had gone unsigned this offseason along with several other veteran safeties, as the market for their services didn't develop as expected.
The Titans also agreed to a deal with safety Jason Thompson.
The Titans tried to bring in Eric Reid for a visit, but he had "multiple flight cancellations," sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Reid had three separate flights from New Jersey to Tennessee canceled, sources told Schefter. The Titans are now set at safety, but the team is open to bringing Reid in again if the need arises, the sources said.
Reid has gone unsigned this offseason, and many believe it's because he has knelt during the national anthem the past few seasons to protest racial injustice. He has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL.
Vaccaro has shown Pro Bowl-caliber potential throughout his five-year career, during which he tallied 67 starts, 385 tackles, 8 interceptions, 7.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.
The 6-foot, 214-pounder, who was drafted with the 15th overall pick out of Texas in 2013, probably fits best as a strong safety playing closer to the line of scrimmage, but he has also often been used as a nickel back covering slot receivers. He also has been used as a pseudo-linebacker in certain packages.
Vaccaro finished third in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2013, when former coordinator Rob Ryan moved him all over the defense as a versatile chess piece.
Vaccaro's past two seasons were two of his best, with a total of five interceptions in 23 games. But he missed seven games (including the playoffs) because of a lingering groin injury that ultimately required surgery in 2017. He also missed the final four games of 2016 because of an Adderall suspension.
ESPN's Mike Triplett contributed to this report.

Good luck to him
The guy deserves to be on a roster.
Might not have panned out as hoped but far from a liability. Coleman looks a good pick up byt think we shot too quick myself that Safety market was dead.

But hindsight and all that

Yep...I wish him all the best. Hope it works out for him in Tennessee.

Speaking of safety, I really feel like we should have picked up Eric Reid to play over Von Bell.

Good. I like the Titans. I lived in Texas when they moved the Houston Oilers to Tennessee and I've followed them every since.

If they're looking for an in-the-box strong safety then it'll be a good fit.

I don’t have anything bad to say about Kenny. He was good at some things, bad at others, but he always played with passion and intensity and I appreciate that. Plus he played through a gruesome injury last season so nothing but respect for the guy. Best of luck KV.

I know he had his weaknesses but I am very surprised he wasn’t picked up until now. I didn’t think he would be out of a job for more than a few days.

Reid's flights were reportedly cancelled to the Titans. Hence their signing KVac.

Vaccaro was truly awesome till he got his bell rung. Had years of avg play till the last two years he started to get back in it. Was sorry to see him go. Wonder if management noted his lukewarm attitude till contract came up and didn’t want a contract year only player. If I were the GM he would get year to year or at most 2 year contract

Good deal. I’m happy he got a gig.

Eric Reid? No thanks. Too much political baggage. It could divide the locker room and the fan base.

The locker room and fan bases are already divided on these issues. I don’t agree with any of y’all politically, but we agree that we want the Saints to win a Super Bowl. I promise you Cam Jordan, Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas agree with me far more than Drew Brees and the Bensons. Reid already said he wouldn’t kneel anymore, and that’s what all the fuss is about. I guarantee this, he’s better than Bell and Coleman.

No doubt he's freakishly talented, but he was very vocal about an issue many feel he's dead wrong about.

I wasn't aware he said he'd stop. I'm skeptical.

He’d actually fit right in with DeMario Davis and Ben Watson.

It’s just the majority of one racial, demographic versus the majority of another like it’s always been. That’s the foundation of the country. We’re all used to it. It’s not as big of a deal for chemistry as people think it is. When I played football it was on a majority, White team full of Confederate flag waivers and people who used the “N” word when weren’t around. On Friday night, it didnt matter. You don’t have to like your teammates, you just need to trust them to get their job done. We already understand the concept of putting our differences to the side momentarily to get something done that benefits us all.

Love and understanding would benefit us all.

As to the on-field topic, I hope Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams make any thoughts of looking outside the current roster meaningless and I believe they have the ability to do just that.

19-0 Baby!

Marcus Williams is going to be a Pro Bowler. I’m unsure about Bell, but of course, I’d love to be proven wrong about him.
