Coleman showed promise, upside - but inconsistent hands, catch radius didn't match his incredible size; hope he can put it together - for an AFC team...

Says something bout how they feel bout TQ's potential to contribute this year.

As well as Cam Meredith's recovery from and assimilation of the playbook...

NOOOOOOOOO! Oh well I'm over it.

This is for the best- hopefully he got a nice settlement.

If you are the number 3 WR in a Brees/Payton offense and you are only getting 25 catches a year, something isn't working.

He'll get picked up in a couple of weeks - maybe the Falcons?

Hello Andy Tanner?

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

He was in doubt to make the squad with all the additions at the position. The only reason would be playbook familiarity, but barring a significant I jury wouldn't expect him back. Who knows though

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

The talent level at WR is so far ahead now that the only way I see him returning is next season if we can't afford the others after a Lombardi...

Then again, Payton's statement also serves as a kind of reference, endorsement to his work ethic, character for other teams that may be shopping...

He's a good blocker. I could see him back late in the season if we get dinged up.

Sean Payton agrees with you (starts around 1:37).

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

Sorry to hear he's injured. Like everyone else, I didn't think he'd make the team anyway. I see it shaping up like this:

1. Can'tGuardMike
2. T. Ginn junia
3. Tre Quan Rookie Sensation
4. The other Cam
5. The Flea
6. Maybe if someone's a great returner

I'm not so sure that the flea makes the roster. Some of these younger players have potential.

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

WR-X (3) 13 - Michael Thomas, 81 - Cameron Meredith (RFA 2018), 87 - Brandon Tate (FA 2018),
11 - Tommylee Lewis, 18 - Keith Kirkwood (UDFA)

WR-Y (3) 19 - Ted Ginn, 10 - Tra'Quan Smith (R3, #91), 17 - Michael Floyd/80 - Austin Carr

KMajor and I discussed that the Tommylee Training Camp Spectacular is always a great show, but inability to return, rarely game-day active, why commit a roster spot?

Kirkwood was my sleeper, then we signed two veterans who could be the final WR roster spots; Kirkwood's got great hands and range, should make Practice Squad...

Payton remarked Floyd was heavy, but the talent is there; but Coach learned his lesson after spending a 1st round on Meachem who showed up - out-of-shape...

Carr looked like the next in a line of reliable slot WRs -Lance Moore, Willie Snead IV; but with the talent acquired, not sure Moore nor Snead makes this roster...

Josh Huff has talent, and looked like the best returning punts till Tate showed, but he's facing a pending two game suspension - we don't have time for that BS...

We have enough WR's to get 6 great ones. Like Scott said with Thomas, Meredith, TQ, Watson and Kamara how many catches ya goin get anyway.

At worst, Kirkwood is starting to look like a practice squad "lock". Coach Curtis will polish him up quickly.

AT could actually catch the ball, would catch the ball,
did catch the ball. He caught everything. Just no room for him.
I loved Coleman's size, and his size. Did I mention his size?

One knock against him was he'd come from a program that hadn't remotely prepared him for the NFL; before OTAs, he hadn't run half the route tree...

A red-shirt year with Coach Curtis & the Whoopin Stick, an active year next year and Kirkwood, by his third year, could slide into Cam Meredith's slot...

And with his size, great hands and catch radius, there will be no need to bring back BC; you'll have Thomas (X), Tre'Quan (Y), and Kirkwood (Z)...

I don’t want to see Brandon Coleman back in the Black and Gold ever again. I think Michael Floyd shocks everybody and makes the team.

Flanker - Michael Thomas/Michael Floyd
Split End - Ted Ginn/Trequan Smith
Slot - Cameron Meredith

I think we keep 5 WR’s with some of the others on speed dial in case of injury.

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

Slim chance but never know. Cam is a repaired transmission, Ginn getting up in age and MT is drawing fierce coverage so more contact.

Not the best hands but the blocking, he was making us money in the run dept. Hard to find WR's that take pride in blocking.

We're keeping six, after even I said we're keeping five, because in that group Ginn is the only return guy and we definitely need a return man (i.e. Tate?)...

Agree with the five of the six, Payton seemed annoyed with Floyd being heavy, though Payton can see the obvious talent still there...

But we need that 6'0" kick returner in the group and for occasional mismatches; if we keep five, then Floyd's not making the team...

Yep.

If BC ever gets back to 100%, he's a prime candidate for the season - long revolving door rotation that is the 53rd man on the roster. Too bad a guy that big, played like he was 5'11.

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

I'd still stack him behind a few that we'll likely be released, traded late in PreSeason...

Re: Saints Release Brandon Coleman

He's probably back when healthy because of his blocking. I'm just not sure how it's going to work with five receivers, three of whom will be splitting snaps.

He could be frustrating to watch but he made quite a few 3 and long catches.
