Interesting? To me at the least it's bothersome, even worrisome. Who scouted this guy and bang the table for him in the draft meetings?

Just saying, JP. As Doris Day so aptly put it, "Que sera, sera ...".

On a side note, Doris Day was hot.

Saints Fan first, so I want to be wrong about the pick and I hope the support system there with Roushar, Strief, Ramczyk can help develop him into a Right Tackle...

...especially because I'd love to have the option of moving Ramczyk to left tackle and move on from Mr. Glass...

Get the idea that you can be un-drafted and still become a great player, John Randle comes to mind, but this is the age of salary cap, a shortened draft...

You gotta get it right through the first four rounds to be competitive, evidenced by last season's success with improved coaching, but last year's draft as well...

But, you can be right and wrong within just a few picks so I included this as a playful jab at ourselves and for perspective...

Who the Hell is Mel Kiper?
;)

I didn't expect much from Clapp. If he follows in Strief's shoes then I'll be happy.

Still scratching my head on that one too. Watching him at Fla State I wasn't impressed. I remember making a few comments in-game about him getting blown up & appearing lost in his assignments. And normally Olinemen don't get noticed unless they are doing well or sucking hard. He sucked hard against ACC dlinemen plus had problems with the D2 schools.

Our scouts see something I sure didn't see, and that is NFL potential. Reminds me of the Tavon Rooks pick. Not good.

In all honesty, I felt Clapp was more of a late fourth, early fifth pick because of his versatility and Leonard was a 7-FA grade...

It's worked out exactly that way...

No one knows how it works out until at least two years down the road for most players selected after the first couple of rounds. One week into the very first preseason isn't a prime time to be making any judgments.

For Leonard to make the squad, he had to excel, have Armstead or Peat go down, or Bushrod just suck. An uphill battle. For Clapp to have already taken the role of Kelemete, it's says way more about Clapp than Leonard.

Well Dan Roushar lit a fire under his arse about his work ethic; and apparently Zach Strief felt compelled enough to pull the rookie aside as well...

But PFF recently graded him as one of the top rookies (going against two's of course); a better gauge will be him playing with the ones in the final PreSeason game...

Still...umm...worrisome that a fire needs to be lit regarding a 4th rd rookie's work ethic. The terms "soft" & "immature" comes to mind. Hope they turn him in the right direction. Regarding PFF, the Cards admit to lacking any kind of DLine depth & he was adequate vs Jax. Coaching is what's gonna save this kid's bacon.
