He has the skills. But, after two years in the system and at his age, potential should be translating into production. He's no where near ready to be the backup if Drew goes down. It's just that simple.

If he had tucked the ball and run instead of staying in the pocket he would have played a better game. Meredith cost him his first interception, so that's not on him. He has potential and looks good delivering the ball. I still have faith that he can get better.

If Drew goes down expect Payton to make a deal for Bridgewater.

Two years? He was signed after the final cuts last season. This marks the start of his SECOND season.

Meh ...

The guy has small hands & ball security (fumbles in practice & games) is not his forte.

See what JT can do with the 2's & not in garbage time. IMO, he has better tools to work with.

I am really getting confused about this guy.....he has some skills, but also some very obvious weaknesses. He's 28 years old and still not anywhere close to a starting QB in the NFL. Yet Peyton, and now Brees, talk him up like he's the best thing since sliced bread. What am I missing here?? I'm just not seeing the need for a lot of excitement.
