Yeah.....we need a real running back

Recorded the game to watch after 3:00... wow...

Am I to see this as a legitimate win; or rather; the Browns sucked more than the saints did..... thinking the latter.

The latter is correct....but, a win is a win. Let's just go with that! :)

Well it's no less a legit win then a legit loss when the saints blow a game in similar fashion. They don't count style points.

That said, the real question is should you feel good about a win like this? The answer is a resounding no. We are 7-9 material the way we are playing.

ANALYST TAKEAWAYS

Saints

Drew Brees struggled on every deep pass in the game, to the point where he was badly underthrowing wide open receivers. The Saints offense looks out of sync at the minute, and the chemistry between Brees and his pass-catchers needs serious improvement going forward.

If not for wide receiver Michael Thomas, the Saints passing game would have been completely inept. Thomas managed 12 receptions for two scores and accounted for 89 of Brees’ passing yards.

Rookie defensive end Marcus Davenport showed some promise against rookie left tackle Desmond Harrison. Davenport may not have been on the field for a lot of snaps, but was able to show some ability to rush the passer. The question going forward will be how he does against better competition.

Linebacker Demario Davis was all over the field in run defense for the Saints, consistently making tackles and shooting gaps. He was a force to be reckoned with up front and refused to allow the Browns rushing attack to get going.

Browns

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw one of the best passes of the week to bring the Browns level late in the fourth quarter. However, the Browns passing attack was a dink and dunk over the middle of the field for the majority of the game.

The Browns Offensive line was able to contain the Saints pass-rush for the duration, and the big guys up front were able to deal with anything the Saints threw at them.

The much-anticipated battle between Myles Garrett and Terron Armstead was a big disappointment. Garrett very rarely got the better of the veteran tackle and Garrett was a relative a non-factor as a pass-rusher.

The defense was able to stifle running back Alvin Kamara for the first three quarters by flowing quickly to the ball anytime he was tasked with a carry. While Kamara was able to force a missed tackle or two, there was always another two or three defenders on hand. In the fourth quarter, the Browns defense started to falter and allowed Kamra more room to operate, as he slowly took over the game and was able to move the chains.

What The **** game were they watching?!?

Crew I watched with were complaining about his missed tackles, especially those that would have been for loss...

He lost containment on the edge several times...

Uh, do what?
Demario Davis?

First of all, I think we've allowed tons of run yards so far this season AND I know we have zero pass rush. To allow Tyrod Taylor to stand flat footed in his backfield for 10 seconds to allow a play to develop is disgusting!

I thinks the D is missing Craig Robertson's intensity out there. Davis has been unimpressive.

Jets have better linebacking play than they had with DeMario Davis, so I don't get what PFF is looking at all...

Jets lost today, but that was because of their offensive turnovers; their front seven on defense looked great...

We have another one besides the real deal in Kamara; but in Payton's questionable personnel wisdom, he's on the practice squad, no less, in Boston Scott...

Understand the argument that Scott has to know pass protection so it will not be an automatic tell to defenses that he's in there to run...

So my retort to that argument to Payton and his apologists is this - so why does Gillislee run the ball only when he's on the field?

Scott could've easily picked up more yards than Gillislee who we found on the Patriots' trash heap...
