Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
It was a win, but nothing to be proud of at all! This team has a lot of work ahead to be a SB contender. Hell, they dont even look like a playoff team right now! Sad...very sad!

An ugly win is still a win. I'll take it.

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
While I'm happy we won this team has a TON of work to do. We were lucky the Browns kicker left 8 points on the board. I still take it but I hope this team realizes they gotta get much better..

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Pretty awful game but I guess I’ll take it.

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Gordon waived ... Hue won't be far behind.
Totally meltdown by the Brownies. 4 quarters though. |

Don't know
the last time I felt this bad after a win? |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Cam Jordan has been invisible.
And Crawley, how do you allow a 47 yard TD on 4th and 5? Seriously, our CB's are awful this year. No way did we deserve that win and it feels like a loss. |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Dennis Allen vs 4th down/3rd and long/last minute drives... Wow. Just wow.

I just don't understand how Jekyll and Hyde we are. Defense held admirably all game, offense finally comes alive and D nearly blows it with a minute to go. |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
From PFF...
ANALYST TAKEAWAYS Saints Drew Brees struggled on every deep pass in the game, to the point where he was badly underthrowing wide open receivers. The Saints offense looks out of sync at the minute, and the chemistry between Brees and his pass-catchers needs serious improvement going forward. If not for wide receiver Michael Thomas, the Saints passing game would have been completely inept. Thomas managed 12 receptions for two scores and accounted for 89 of Brees’ passing yards. Rookie defensive end Marcus Davenport showed some promise against rookie left tackle Desmond Harrison. Davenport may not have been on the field for a lot of snaps, but was able to show some ability to rush the passer. The question going forward will be how he does against better competition. Linebacker Demario Davis was all over the field in run defense for the Saints, consistently making tackles and shooting gaps. He was a force to be reckoned with up front and refused to allow the Browns rushing attack to get going. Browns Quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw one of the best passes of the week to bring the Browns level late in the fourth quarter. However, the Browns passing attack was a dink and dunk over the middle of the field for the majority of the game. The Browns Offensive line was able to contain the Saints pass-rush for the duration, and the big guys up front were able to deal with anything the Saints threw at them. The much-anticipated battle between Myles Garrett and Terron Armstead was a big disappointment. Garrett very rarely got the better of the veteran tackle and Garrett was a relative a non-factor as a pass-rusher. The defense was able to stifle running back Alvin Kamara for the first three quarters by flowing quickly to the ball anytime he was tasked with a carry. While Kamara was able to force a missed tackle or two, there was always another two or three defenders on hand. In the fourth quarter, the Browns defense started to falter and allowed Kamra more room to operate, as he slowly took over the game and was able to move the chains. |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
The stats from the game says Jordan had 2 sacks but i can only remember seeing one?

I can’t wait for Ingram to come back.

Recorded the game to watch after 3:00... wow...
Am I to see this as a legitimate win; or rather; the Browns sucked more than the saints did..... thinking the latter. |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
The latter is correct....but, a win is a win. Let's just go with that! :)

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Well it's no less a legit win then a legit loss when the saints blow a game in similar fashion. They don't count style points.
That said, the real question is should you feel good about a win like this? The answer is a resounding no. We are 7-9 material the way we are playing. |

Crew I watched with were complaining about his missed tackles, especially those that would have been for loss... He lost containment on the edge several times... |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Uh, do what?
Demario Davis? First of all, I think we've allowed tons of run yards so far this season AND I know we have zero pass rush. To allow Tyrod Taylor to stand flat footed in his backfield for 10 seconds to allow a play to develop is disgusting! |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Class Act!
|
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
I thinks the D is missing Craig Robertson's intensity out there. Davis has been unimpressive.

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Jets have better linebacking play than they had with DeMario Davis, so I don't get what PFF is looking at all...
Jets lost today, but that was because of their offensive turnovers; their front seven on defense looked great... |

Understand the argument that Scott has to know pass protection so it will not be an automatic tell to defenses that he's in there to run... So my retort to that argument to Payton and his apologists is this - so why does Gillislee run the ball only when he's on the field? Scott could've easily picked up more yards than Gillislee who we found on the Patriots' trash heap... |
Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
First TD Throw To @CantGuardMike in this tweeted video worked out for the Saints and two of my three fantasy teams...
But really wish Payton would tear these plays out of his playbook because a better team would have converted that into a devastating pick-6 play... |

Re: Saints vs. Browns Game Day Thread
Stand by what I said - no way Davis should be graded that high with the missed tackles for loss and failure to contain the edge several times...
