Saints place Tommylee Lewis on IR

The Saints placed receiver/returner Tommylee Lewis on injured reserve Wednesday. New Orleans re-signed defensive tackle Jay Bromley to take his roster spot.

We still have Boston Scott. He's on the practice squad.

Too bad on TLL.

More opportunities for others including that dude named Taysom Hill. He can line up on short goal line situations, special teams, kick offs & tackle everything in sight. You know ... just a good athlete.

He never had the "it" factor. I wish him well though.

They probably felt Lewis was more game ready. He knew the passing plays and could also return kicks. Perhaps they felt Scott just needed more time to get the running scheme down. I think Scott is more in heir long term plans. Just like when I asked Strief about Rick Leonard going to the practice squad. He said he told Leonard that the practice squad is a good thing so don't get down about it.

I get all that, I was just making a point that TLL was not the answer at kick returner over the likes of Scott and Tate. So if Scott is better off on the PS, ok, but Tate showed way better than TLL. And is also a better receiver I would imagine.

It's looking like Ginn and Kamara may be handling those duties.

Or they could still bring back Tate, I suppose.

Put me in the camp that hates that idea. Kamara is far too valuable to field punts and Ginn has a case of the butter fingers.

I'd prefer plan C (Tate) + IMO he had a solid camp. If coaches like what they've seen from Meredith in practice, it's quite possible he is activated on Sunday.

I agree. I didn't say I liked it, but it's looking like the most probable outcome ... at least for the short term. I can see why they cut Tate if he was vested. It would have made sense to bring him back after the first game if they saw him as a temporary fix to avoid the full season guaranteed salary. I'm not seeing if he's been picked up elsewhere, though.

I was really pulling for him but he just couldn’t get it done. What’s Tate doing? I see Armstead is back on the injury report.

Amen...

Regrets to Tommylee, but sometimes the Almighty has to step in and save Sean Payton the GM from himself...

I really don't see the appeal of TLL. The guy gets tackled if a defense player farts on him. I don't feel he is even average as a receiver. I just don't get the love affair.
