One guy who's not getting enough credit

Will Lutz.

I haven't seen much mentioned of him since the game finished, but he's the main reason we were even in this game to begin with.

Offense stalled on 4 straight redzone trips and Lutz was just automatic from everywhere.

It's nice to finally have a kicker that's not a deer in the headlights whenever his number is called, in his short time with us he's made some pretty big kicks and he seems like he should be here for a very long time.

Totally. He survived the two re-kicks today without any issues and on the road to boot. Showed me a lot today.

He's money. So glad Payton stuck with him.

"KICKER, ON THE ROAD, TO BOOT" Don't forget Garret Hartley was 13 for 13 in 2008.

He's better than Kickaliscious would've been.

Don't forget his counterpart Thomas Morstead who is as steady as a rock.

Good post! I was just thinking the same myself.
Special teams as a whole is starting to look better. Coach Westhoff looks like a genious signing.

Thank you coach Harbaugh for that gift!!! We were so lucky to get him.

On the "muffed punt" handled by Brandon Tate, Sean Payton looked as if he was about to come un glued. Lucky a** bounce in our favor. Ted "butter fingers" Ginn didn't help Payton's blood pressure either with that fumble on the kickoff :argue: .

What made it worse is that Ginn should have let it go into the end zone. Bonehead decision followed by the fumble. Too bad we are pretty much stuck with Ginn.

I think this may be Ginns last year though, Meredith seems more and more comfortable each week, it's just a shame that Tre'quan hasn't shown up as advertised yet, but at the end of the day he's a rookie and simply looks not ready.

Hopefully Carr can start getting involved more, he's a shifty player in and out of breaks and could potentially help us on 3rd down like Snead used to.

Confidence may be a factor with Smith at this point ... in more ways than one. He has been targeted four times and has only one catch. The team may be less confident at this point, as well. But with Ginn's issues they need that player to stretch the field.

Carr and Meredith have both been targeted five times with Meredith (in half as many games) hauling in four and Carr three. Carr's snap counts have plummeted since Meredith became available.

Speaking of targets, Thomas has now been targeted 44 times and has had 42 catches! That is insane!

Ginn, on the other hand, 22 targets and only a dozen receptions. To be fair, a few have been bomb attempts, but nonetheless, poor.
