I read about half the article... Some of these websites like the Advocate have so much unrelated crap & advertisements on their page that it takes forever to load the damn page just to read the article.

I understand, but it's the only way they can stay in business. I started in newspapers over forty years ago and my college roommate/best man/fellow photographer just retired a couple of months ago from the Raleigh News & Observer. We've talked about his very subject many times leading up to his retirement. You are not alone. People would read a print article through, but when battling popups and such the average person seldom reads past the first few paragraphs, or for many, the headline, which is much worse.

If you are looking at this on a CPU, get Ublock, works wonders for the never ending ads that pop up. I think you can use it on your phone to if I am not mistaken but I am not 100% on that.

Just an awareness comment. The digital realm isn't the easiest thing to stay alive in. Take this site for instance, Halo has to fund it somehow either donations or click advertising; I give him credit for finding a very nice balance. He doesn't do it alone. With out the unpaid moderation done by people like Papz, or the articles posted by Guido, jeanpierre, Whodat, etc... this place doesn't make it.

For all that you guys do.. Thank you!

My g/f is a social media marketing & advertisement guru. This is what happens... I know this first hand... these marketing experts with their high powered computers with their jet fast internet connections come up with all these cute vids & graphics to "wow, inspire, and grab attention", and they do it in the highest possible resolution which makes the "popup Ad" not only annoying but it's a big layered program that is not designed for the average computer. It looks real cute when they run it on their end, but when I try to open a page on an average personal computer it takes forever to load. I've had this conversation many times with these marketing over-educated over-creative dummies.

Agree. Spent the past twenty-five year in systems and design along with their business applications. I was always always trying to get systems to coexist with the lowest common user platform.

Use a different browser... it may help. Try Brave, for mobile or computer. It does a great job blocking these kinds of things.

yeah, I could do all that, but the webpage designers could also design a webpage that doesn't piss people off. Black-and-Gold.c0m doesn't piss me off. This webpage has all kinds of moving parts, portals, and even Ads yet it's very user friendly and doesn't make green smoke boil out of my hard drive.
