At this point in his career, 39-year-old Saints quarterback Drew Brees has seen basically every in-game situation that can be thrown at him. Young wide receivers, conversely, aren't always as astute. If a receiver is loafing around and hurting the team in that moment, the sagely Brees is not above raising his voice. In Week 5's Monday Night Football showdown, Brees let receiver Austin Carr have it. In an attempt to save a timeout and avoid a 12 men on the field penalty, Brees, who holds a near innumerable amount of passing records, absolutely savages the former Northwestern Wildcat with just five career catches. Excessive? Potentially. Then again, Tom Brady routinely tears into players and coaches. Not only is he not vilified, he's praised for trying to motivate and for being passionate. Brees may yell and scream, but he has more than earned that right and commanded that authority. In this very same game, Brees broke the NFL record for most career passing yards with a 62-yard strike to Tre'Quan Smith. Brees is a player who prides himself on being meticulous, accurate, and perfect on every play. If a young punk like Carr is going to screw up Brees' image of what should happen on a play, he is well within his rights to let him know it. |

Ok. It’s called leadership. These guys get concussions and other injuries every week. If they can’t handle a little ass chewing then they need to put their big boy britches on. On the field you don’t have time for please and thank you’s. You don’t have time to explain the hows and whys . That’s what practice is for.
This is a stupid article .”Frightening”? Really? I doubt Carr is losing much sleep over getting yelled at. They should go work in a restaurant for an hour and they will find out what frightening is real quick. |
