Troy Brown re ups with Patriots
I have heard that despite a substantially larger offer from the Saints that Troy Brown has accepted the Patriots offer and will be on their roster next year.
First of all from Brown's perspective this makes perfect sense. Why go to a team that can't ever make the playoffs when you can play for a perennial Super Bowl contender every year? My question is how the NFL's players association feels about this. Every time you take a substantially lower offer you are affectively screwing over every other player at your position. AROD tried this move in baseball to get out of Texas and the Union nearly crucified him. Is baseball's union much stronger than the NFL's or is Brown too small of a star player for anyone to raise a stink about this? |

Baseball doesn't have the salary cap. There's your difference. Players in football renegotiate and restructure downwards all the time. Not so in many other sports.

I'm just glad to see that we went after Troy Brown. At least it was an attempt to make the team better. I just wish some of that had taken place with regards to the available linebackers in free agency before the draft.
