Bridgewater Insurance only
If coach thought he could trade him to a team in need for a 2nd and Taysom is his guy then this makes a lot of sense.

Re: Bridgewater Insurance only
I can’t see it happening. Payton has said that Bridgewater is the #2 QB, not Hill. All the cool stuff we do with Hill would probably have to stop if he was the back-up.

Re: Bridgewater Insurance only
If someone come up and offered a 1st or early 2nd then I say bite. Other than that keep him and get the comp pick. Only thing that would change that would be Drew walking into the sunset with a second Lombardi

Re: Bridgewater Insurance only
We just shipped off JT Barrett which leaves us with only 3 quarterbacks. I can't see this happening either, but you never know with Payton and Loomis. In my opinion, we've never had a true capable backup quarterback to Brees except for Mark Brunnel, and eventhough we drafted Greyson and I forget what other quarterback with some fairly high draft choices, I feel like we've never really put a lot of value on that backup position.

Re: Bridgewater Insurance only
It's a win/win if he walks and we get our 3rd round pick back. It's a great use of the future capital once again by Mickey Loomis.

Re: Bridgewater Insurance only
As active as we usually are in free agency there’s no way we’d get a 3rd round comp pick for Bridgewater.

If TB was just an insurance policy for '18 why would you trade him not even half way through the season, lol. That in and of itself demonstrates that concept as lunacy. You would carry him for the entire season as...insurance. I don't think we picked up TB as insurance. I think we picked him up because SP saw him as a very ready and real DB replacement. Now that doesn't mean we wouldn't trade him. I think we certainly could do that because we have made so many moves letting go of picks. So if Jacksonville offered a second we'd probably take it. I don't think that was why we sent a third away for him. I think we sent a third because our plan at that time was for him to be the heir. Unless there is an offer we just can't pass up I think he will be resigned and eventually take over for Drew. |
