Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
The article makes it clear. The Saint's beat the Vikings by keeping constant pressure on Cousins from the second quarter on. Nine hits and four sacks takes a toll on the QB. The Packers showed us the recipe by sacking Goff 5 times. We just need to cook the Ram gumbo on Sunday.

Have Taysum spy Gurley the whole game.

But Davenport is getting better and there were times when we did disrupt them. We're definitely better now than earlier in the season. I want to see us dominate somebody. I may be asking too much. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Another incredibly fun team to watch. Preventing Aaron Donald from collapsing the pocket will be the key to the game for us.

This was talked about by Jordan after the game. They dialed up the pressure as the game progressed. So Cousins gets comfortable, then we steadily crank it until the dial is way up there. All the laser timed throws he makes without thinking, just putting it in a spot starts becoming a problem. We slowly took that away. His go to muscle memory routes were gone. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
“Listen, we’re going to have to grind this tape,” Rankins said, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. “We played [the Rams] last year, but they’re a whole different animal this year. So it’s definitely going to be our biggest task yet. But we’re confident in the guys we have and it’s going to be a fun battle.”

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Here is a kind of interesting stat. There are two teams undefeated on the road in 2018. The Rams and the Saints.

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Number 1 running back vs number 1 run defense
After the first quarter the Vikings' passing game was held in check, and their WR's are better than LA's might very well be last team with the ball wins- bet the over |

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
The key to this game will be our interior line play on both sides of the ball. If we can slow Suh and Donald down I think we will have success moving the ball.
Of course we have to also be able to stop Gurley without having to put 8 in the box. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
The Vikings have a fairly good pair of DE's themselves. I'm not as concerned about them as much as running the ball between the tackles.

Suh and Donald are a beasts however Armstead and Ramz are elite tackles. Per PFF, Ryan did not allow a single pressure in 24 pass blocking snap against the Vikings. He's only allowed only 4 pressures all season with a pressure rate of 1.6% (leads ALL TACKLES IN THE NFL). That is big time, prime time folks. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Anyone else see how many times Green Bay receivers were wide open on Sunday? I'm not sure if there were missed assignments or confusion for the Rams, but I bet Drew and Payton are scouring those game tapes.

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Meh ...
Rams are a good team but have they been battle tested like the Saints on the road? Lambs are the best untested, undefeated team in football. Good luck against the Saints, #9 & a innovative HC in the dome. Take the Saints & the points. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Whether it's Davis, Robertson or a safety somebody has to stick on Gurley.
He's been pretty good as a pass catcher besides running back. |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
I just went back and watched the highlight package for each of the lambs games so far. A few things stood out.
1. Gurley is a monster. I hope our linebackers are ready for the edge and DL is stout. 2. They like to air it out. Look for them to take 5-6 shots this week off of play action. Hopefully we can stop Gurley without safeties in the box and let Marcus Williams play the outfield. 3. Many of their opponents big plays came from seam and post routes. We should have some opportunities in the middle of the field. Watson or Trequan might have a big game. 4. Their run defense has some holes. I'd feed Kamara and Ingram in this game, especially to the right side. Other than Gurley and the d line, they are an average team. Dome field advantage. Saints win 38-31 :bng::bng::bng: |
Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
It's going to be tough to beat the Saints in the Super Dome.

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
Rams have traded for Dante Fowler Jr.; more help against Taysom Hill perhaps?

Re: Gearing Up For The Rams
I am looking at this and I see the Rams beat the Vikings and the Packers, both of them at home. Who have the Rams beaten, that has a strong winning record, on the road? Century Link is a tough place to play, but that ain't the old Seattle Seahawks of 3-4 years ago anymore.
