Quickly watched the 'Short Cuts' of the game ... these numbers are WAY off. Looks like they were counting some zone coverage plays where he was close to the receiver. Hard to find good defensive numbers on targets/receptions for DBs, there's too much interpretation needed for them.

The most telling spec not mentions is a Passer Rating Allowed of 116.1.

Yeah. If he gave up 100+ yards he did it pretty quietly.

This is HIGHLY subjective because I don’t know exactly what coverages were called, but I just watched every Goff completion from the game and I have Lattimore giving up 3 catches for 82 yards. The bulk of that was the one 48 yard catch by Cooks. Take that away and the rest of the game was 2/34 yards.

Just eyeballs here but it seemed to me they were mainly throwing to the other side, same as most teams have done.

When I re-watched that's about what I came up with. I also saw two obvious zone coverage plays where he was close, but can you say those were his to fully defend? He had as good a game as any of the DBs.

You nailed it. I remember one that looked like a Cover 2 and the receiver found the soft spot behind him. Hard to say if that was on the safety or not.

I think the 48 yarder to Cooks was the only one he gave up in man coverage.

Cooks doesn't always just line up at outside receiver, he goes into the slot as well. I'd bet my lunch money that Latimore did not allow all that and also remember we play zone a lot also. So maybe Lat started out covering him but he was handed off to a safety. So if I was to place a bet, it was a safety that allowed the majority of that.

Lattimore did get beat by cook. Goff gain my respect cause of his timely throws and smarts not to try to target Lattimore. Lattimore is not my concerns cause his play is solid. My concerns are on M Williams tackling

Can we worry about Trey Hendrickson vs the run game or the invisible safety aka Kurt Coleman :ohno:? Cooks has ability to win match ups on 85% of the corners in the league.

Our defense is reminiscent our of Superbowl team where we were ranked in the bottom third of the league. Regardless of how "bad" it was, it made key plays when it counted and we just managed to win games. Big stops and key turnovers. Worked then and seems to be working now.
