Injuries: Terron Armstead expected to miss 3-4 weeks

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that left tackle Terron Armstead will be out for roughly 3-4 weeks, per a source.

Armstead injured his pectoral muscle in last week's blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Jermon Bushrod replaced Armstead in the lineup.

Armstead, a raw third-round pick from Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2013, has worked his way into becoming one of the best blindside blockers in the entire league. Armstead consistently keeps Drew Brees' backside clean and road grades for a dominant Saints run game. Pro Football Focus rates Armstead their top offensive tackle through 10 weeks.

I'm telling myself it could be worse, and we have a capable backup, but I am disappointed to say the least.

Armstead has battled many injuries the last couple few years. He was limited to seven games in 2016 due to knee and quad injuries and played 10 last season due to hip and shoulder issues. An injury has to be a disappointing blow for a player who had finally found relief after doing everything he could to stay on the field the last two years.
That's just it... HAS he done what's necessary for these things NOT to happen? Our RT has yet to miss a game. What's different?

Willie Roaf was solid during his career. It's probably time to draft a possible replacement.

Can Taysom play LT?

If you were to take Armstead's Annual Salary and Divide it by Complete Games Played, he'd be the most expensive Left Tackle in the league...

We need to draft a right tackle and move Ramczyk to LT...

Hate to see this happen, but, we could do much worse than having Bushrod at that position.

The Saints, like nearly every team in the league, have had their share of O-line injuries. It's a testament to the O-line coaches that they're able to move people around or switch blocking assignments to keep Drew safe. They'll work their magic for four weeks and we'll be good.

Well Bushrod, we needed you once so we could make a Super Bowl run... Time to do it again.

My question is do we leave Bushrod out at LT or do we kick Peat out there and put Bushrod inside at guard?

+1.

Scheme. Saints are a very good team & will make the necessary adjustments.

The only "real" injuries we've had after 8 weeks of football is Davenport and Armstead thus far (knock on wood). Better we lose these guys now than in late December.

"Ice up" Armstead.

They are going to see if Bushrod can hold it down without moving the other 4 linemen. Peat at LT and Clapp at LG worked well before (not at same time) so I imagine that is plan B.

This sucks but we will be ok. The only team that has a RE that worries me is Dallas...he should be back for Carolina and Pittsburgh...that’s the important stretch...

It’s not close regarding Armstead and the 2nd best LT...and the Saints organization knows it...hopefully he heals up well and stays for years to come. No one gets close to Brees on his side when he is healthy and his value in the screen game is severely over looked.

Peat is a better LG than LT. Leave him where he is. Bushrod will be fine at LT.

We'll make it work by shifting players. I hope we don't see a performance drop.

Now, if we see another injury on offensive line, we can start to scale back expectations for the year (KNOCK ON WOOD).

3-4 weeks gets Armstead back by the Panthers, Steelers, Panthers season end run.

From what I've seen I'm hoping Peat stays at left guard. The inside of the line has been playing excellent, let's not jack it up.

Ha !

I don't count Dez because unfortunately we never saw what impact he would have in black and gold.

I understand that. My post was mostly tongue-in-cheek. :)

That would make more sense to me - Peat is younger, more agile and Bushrod actually had a late-career renaissance when he moved to left guard in Miami...

Bushrod was selected in the fourth round (125th overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 2007 NFL Draft. On June 20, 2007, Bushrod signed a three-year contract.[4] Bushrod's NFL debut was on November 11, 2007 against the Houston Texans.[4] Bushrod played in only three games prior to the 2009 season. However, after an injury to Saints' starting left tackle Jammal Brown, Bushrod became a starter for the Saints in 2009, helping the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl Championship.[2] On April 13, 2010, signed a one-year contract to return to the team.[4] Bushrod led the NFL in snaps played in the 2011 season with 1,177. On July 29, 2011, Bushrod signed a 2-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.[4] He was also a Pro Bowler in 2011 and 2012 season with the Saints.

Bushrod played amazingly well last week. Thrown into the fire after the recent tragedy in his personal life, that's a bad man.

no way do you put Bushrod in at guard when Cox coming to town. need Peat and Warford to control the middle

I'm really not concerned about Bushrod
VERY concerned about the guy after Bushrod

LeRibeus is already out. Can't afford to get any thinner

Just give Bushrod a little help now and again with chips from the running backs - that helped him massively in 09.

I hope we done get any thinner but that’s when we will shuffle the line and move Peat and possibly Ram. We have Cameron Tom who can play C/G and has done well in his appearances.
