Saints Throttle Eagles 48-7
 

This one, a 48-7 dismantling of the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, was over early as the Saints extended their winning streak to nine.

The last time the Saints won nine games in a row, they ended the season hoisting a Lombardi Trophy as Super Bowl champions.

Nine seasons later, the streak has reached that number again as the Saints added yet another Super Bowl-looking performance to their season.

A game that when the schedule came out looked like it would be a challenge was anything but for the Saints (9-1), who haven't lost since the season opener to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The past four victories (over the Vikings, Rams, Bengals and Eagles) have all been decided by double digits.

This was a colossal beat down in every phase. The secondary is so different with Apple in there, and Rankins is becoming a monster.

Skull drug seems more appropriate.

This is a dominate Saints O line. Keep in mind Armstead was out today. Once they see blood, sharks in water. Blowing teams out. Rams aren't even this dominant. No one will want to come to the dome in January.

The 2017 Saints team was good. The 2018 Saints team is scary good with a QB playing like the MVP of the league.

We are middle of the pack in total points allowed this season and number one in points scored.

this team reminds me of the 85 bears..swap our offense as their dominant d, and our defense as their decent offense.

He's looking better but even he admitted, the coverage on MT is what opened things up for him. That, and Philly's secondary was depleted.

I was at work and go to the break room when I came in and saw a 38 to 7 score. Pretty much did a happy dance right then and there.

Kind of surprised how hard we kept the pedal down, especially with another game in 4 days. Did an Eagles player dump Sean Payton's daughter or something?

The scary thing is, we really got off the gas early 3rd quarter.

The '18 Eagles are not the '17 Eagles, but they are also not the Raiders, Cards or 49ers. Considering what the Saints offense has done this year it is difficult to see how anyone will stop us. Fans were used to see Brees putting up record passing numbers. Now the team is putting up record scoring numbers with a balanced run-pass attack, playing nearly mistake-free football. Double Kamara and Thompson and Brees kills you with Smith and Kirkwood. Try to stop the passing game, Ingram/Kamara run for 200+ yards, eating clock and wearing the D.

The thing that has impressed me the most these past several games is that the D-line is starting to mirror the O-line. They are becoming equally adept at stuffing the run and pressuring the QB. The result has been 7 picks in the last four games. Giving the ball back to Brees just makes a long day even longer for the opposing D.

If we can continue to pressure passers, the DBs will return to their 2017 form, just in time for the playoffs. This D has climbed to #16 in scoring D. Pitch out the first three games and the Saints have the #3 scoring defense. Couple that with the #1 scoring offense and you have a recipe that's hard if not impossible to beat.

Garbage time observation ....

There was about 3 or 4 minutes left in the game, the camera zero's in on Doug Peterson and he's covering his mouth with his play card as if we didn't already know his plays on D :o. That moment was kind of funny to me.

At least he never stop coaching ;).

I was thinking the same thing. But get this...even with our backups in garbage time they didn't give up a score to their starting offense. That says a lot about our D's grit.
