NFL's Dark Underside
This is a pretty good read, but I do take exception with his claim that "There was some defense too." Three defensive TDs doesn't constitute "defense" when one team scores on every drive. Sometimes the offense scored, sometimes the defense scored, but it seemed like someone was always going to score. That said, there were seven punts in the game. Morstead has only punted 21 times...in 10 games. How do they score 105 points and still punt seven times? Quick scoring drives. This is how NO beats both these teams. They either score quick or punt. NO sustains long drives and scores on most possessions. Limiting possession time, limits scoring opportunities.
The Rams - Chiefs possession time was about even (Rams + 46 seconds). The Saints - Rams was a totally different story (Saints + 7:22). That's how you beat high powered offenses with questionable defenses. Play keep away. https://nypost.com/2018/11/20/the-da...ffensive-epic/ |

I think we not only hang with each team, we beat them

Re: NFL's Dark Underside
I believe KC's downfall in that game was not establishing the run against a pretty poor run defensive team. They got behind early and were snake bit with penalties but Kareem Hunt was extremely effective running the ball and I think the Chiefs felt they needed to be faster matching scoring. I think if they had slowed down their possessions with longer drives and controlled the clock more they could have ground the Rams into much less pass rush success. They let the Rams dictate that game and had to constantly play from a weak position.

Re: NFL's Dark Underside
We have shown that we absolutely have the ability to win time of possession and beat you that way if we need to. We just play each team different each week. That’s what I love about this team.

Re: NFL's Dark Underside
I whole-heartedly agree with this article. If I want to watch basketball, I will watch basketball. Once you get to the point where teams are scoring on every possession, it starts to get kinda boring.
Like the writer said, too much ice cream. |

We will easily beat both teams. 18-1 demands it.

Re: NFL's Dark Underside
In reality we were those teams during our 7-9 runs the only difference was we had nobody on defense to create turnovers to bail us out...
And we had teams on our schedule then like Carolina, Seattle, Arizona, Ravens who could run on us, eat the clock, and could play defense... The 2018 Rams and Chiefs have much lighter schedules and are catching good defenses like the Broncos, Jags, Cardinals, Seahawks in down years with awful quarterback play... Ironically, our tougher schedule will make us better prepared for the post-season adversity and obstacles that is the nature of the Tournament... |
