Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

It's a fog right now and it's almost playoff time. Don't ever recall this being a thing but it is.

Not too concerning, Kamara is a quasi WR and probably a better WR than some WR1's on teams but we saw what happens when him and MT get blanketed. Can' t truly stop them but it does stall the offense.

Hoping somebody emerges these last few games. Looked like Smith for a while but he has vanished. Kirkwood maybe. He seems to have great hands but still raw. Having to rely on them or anyone else is pretty much a crap shoot. No more Moore, Henderson type guys.

Ginn will likely be brought back. We do need someone else to step up, a TE too.

Seems like every team has a scat wr someone to quickly shake a dB off his game can’t believe Payton didn’t pay more attention in draft to that type he wants all MT types?

Just need more players somewhere near MT level.

AK is the scat WR in my eyes.

Someone needs to step up the next few weeks.

Talented. Inexperienced. But, defenses have it ALL on tape and prepare all week to stop it. The young guys just have to understand they have to work harder than they did last week.

We are fine at WR. Our seconds could start for other teams.

TS & Kirkwood ... I believe in BOTH of you. Time to go get it.

And yet many say that this is the best team that Payton has fielded in his 13 years with the Saints. Says a lot about the other players, the coaching staff and the chemistry of this team.

TLL, Kirkwood or Smith need to step up and get some separation so Drew will throw to them. Ginn may come back and give us a lift but he's coming off IR and is no spring chicken. He may take time to get …...up to speed.

same crew from beginning with Drew getting ALL TIME best numbers.

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

The good news is, I feel like we don't actually need that much to fix the doldrums in the WR corps. Just a little something to help out Thomas and Kamara. I mean if somebody can step up in the mix and get themselves 60+ something yards, in receiving, maybe even 80 yards....heck, that's really all we need to keep drives alive and continue moving the ball to score at will. The way I see it, just a little bump from one of the other receivers will be plenty enough to put us over the top. I mean we have all these other guys, typically getting a couple catches in a game for 20 yards, 25 yards, 15 yards, numbers like that....if one or two of them can get up to 40+ yards, or two of them combine for 80+ yards instead of under 40, throw a TD or two in the mix, and we are back in the business of putting up blowouts....

We just don’t have any solid role players. They are all having to play multiple roles and we don’t have anyone who can really stretch the field.
Don’t see Ginn helping in that capacity when he returns from injury. He will just be another set of hands. Best we can hope for is him drawing coverage.
Should have kept Coleman.

In a way I'm glad we aren't totally stacked at WR and TE and have some question marks. We have young talent to develop for the future. And it encourages us to run the ball more with Kamara, Ingram and Hill. Be efficient, control the ball/clock and get rings. That's all that matters.

Agreed, very, very obvious in tonight’s game. No separation, drops by Smith. Leads to extra coverage on Thomas.

I’m missing Colston.

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

Ted Ginn is the answer. Nobody wants to believe it but our offense was so much better when we had him in the lineup. Even it’s just taking more coverage away from other WR.

They have to honor the speed.

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

I'll say this ... Keith Kirkwood has been consistently catching 2 or 3 passes per game since he was promoted from the practice squad. That's not great, however he's been consistent.

Tre Smith must improve. 3 bad games in a row. Unacceptable. I just don't trust rookies & UDFA's in the playoffs. Gotta get this sorted out. Playing at home should help.

Missing TG Jr badly.

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

The offensive line just hasn’t been giving Drew the protection and time he needs for these guys to get open. Even Thomas is struggling. Armsteads presence is missed big time and the other guys are kind of banged up too. They will be good come playoffs. Winn next week and we can rest starters against Carolina

Seconded. He reeks of Lance Moore.

Ginn can stretch defenses with the speed. But defenses are jamming the WRs at the line, not just our team, yes even teams like the Lambs. Not sure Coleman would add anything we don't already have in Capt Kirkwood, other than maybe slightly better blocking. And Coleman was battling multiple injuries when he was released. I think if SP wanted him back, he'd be here already.

SP just needs to figure out a way to get Drew more time to throw with this line which is not quite as stout as it once was, and get these WRs less jammed and more open.

I just find it hard to believe Marshall and Tate are not better.
Agree that we (and Brees) rely too much on these young guys to make plays

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

Simmie Cobbs ... come on down. Let's see what you got.

Lack of depth & experience (see furious Brees telling Smith he needed to cut inside for the ball) is killing us at WR.

Gotta pick up momentum offensively heading into the playoffs. Having a healthy Unger & Armstead will be key though.

Re: Shakiest WR Corps Brees Era

Seems like putting AK and Ingram on the field at the same time would help take away some attention.
Thomas is getting doubled too often, and everyone can see why.
