Road to Home Field Advantage Magic Number

2 after tonight's Eagles win over the Rams

so 2 Saints wins

or 2 Rams & Bears losses

or 1 of each of the above

It means the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC goes through the Mercedes Benz Superdome!

Under the current standings, these would be the first-round NFC playoff pairings if the postseason began this week:

No. 6 Minnesota Vikings (7-6-1) at No. 3 Chicago Bears (10-4)
No. 5 Seattle Seahawks (8-6) at No. 4 Dallas Cowboys (8-6)
No. 1 Saints (11-2) would have a first-round bye
No. 2 Rams (11-3) would have a first-round bye

Rams' loss to Eagles gives Saints chance to take 1-game lead in race for top spot

If we knock off the Panthers tomorrow I will lock it in. If we don’t, it’s still wide open.

The Chicago Bears (10-4) beat the Green Bay Packers 24-17 and clinched the NFC North championship. By doing so, they will stay within two games of the Saints in the conference standings.

If the Saints (11-2) lose Monday against the Carolina Panthers, that margin will go down to one game.

After this week, both teams will have two games left. If the Saints and Bears end the season tied in the conference standings, the Bears would hold the tiebreaker based on their record in conference games.

The Saints will earn a first-round bye if they win two of the final three games.

We won't. Too much at stake. We "woke" up after the Dallas game.

I'm 99.9% certain Saints will come out with a sense of urgency from the opening whistle on both sides of the ball.
