ELI APPLE
Did we just watch Eli get his act together!?!?!?
|
Re: ELI APPLE
He’s improved each week.

Game ball
|
Re: ELI APPLE
That’s how he looked in college.

Re: ELI APPLE
Eli played extremely well but my game ball goes to the entire defense.
They're really good across the board. No way we win without that effort. |
Re: ELI APPLE
Bell gets my game ball. He was lights out.

Re: ELI APPLE
Whatever Dennis Allen is preaching, this defense is buying into it and believing it, all the way. Notice how every week it seems like a different guy steps up and makes a game-saving play. This defense has an identity, a group chemistry, they believe in each other, and that is so rare in the league right now. Eli made a great play tonight. This is hugely important that we have a defense with an identity that hangs tough, because it's buying us time to get the offense back in sync.

Re: ELI APPLE
The announcers said that Apple didn't have any passes caught against him last week but he did have some pass interference calls.
|
Re: ELI APPLE
And PJ Williams is really playing well also...his confidence is high. If he can keep playing at this level we can play with anyone. Big test next week against the Steelers.

Re: ELI APPLE
the secondary supposed to be the achillies heel but they were backbone to the defense. hats off to apple & bell

Re: ELI APPLE
What about that 4th and 1 McCaffery trick td pass
Who was that on? 10 in the box |

Lot of love to give our D this year, but one guy who has not performed is Marcus Williams.. guy has been a ghost all season. |
Re: ELI APPLE
That’s Apple in Man.... when they put him in zone, he’s all fked up.
|
Re: ELI APPLE
Williams hasn't been invisible. He's had some crucial picks and tackled well. He was the scape goat on the McCaffrey TD pass. He bit on the run and left his man to shed the block and separate. He was to blame for being overly aggressive on that trick play.
|
Re: ELI APPLE
It was a trick play, on 4th and 1. They got PJ on that one, he bit too hard, so good for them. I'm not trying to split hairs, but the Carolina offense didn't really do anything else that was noteworthy, besides that one play, the rest of the entire night. If they'd run that play over and over again and kept scoring every time, I'd have a problem with it. But this defense is exactly like the '09 defense -- they sometimes give up a big play or a big run early in the game, first quarter, but once it happens, IT DON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

Re: ELI APPLE
The pick was timely, but in reality it was a really bad throw.
And right after Cam was mouthing and posing. Perfect |

I'm no longer laughing at PJ Williams in the slot either.
These improvements has coach Aaron Glenn fingers prints all over it. |

Re: ELI APPLE
Well what we saw was a talented player being coached up to play to his talents.
The penalties and bone headed coverages he had been doing since we traded for him was horrible. He certainly wasn't worth the trade up until this game last night. Broken up plays the int. I got excited for him. Shows you how good are the coaches we have and the talent scouts are doing. |
Re: ELI APPLE
Apple now has more picks than his entire time with Giants.

Re: ELI APPLE
It's the team. This defense is greater than the sum of its parts. They are all coming together, they believe in each other, and together they are playing above all of their collective individual abilities. You can see it in how they react after every play. A guy makes a nice tackle, and someone else is always right there pulling him up from the ground and popping his helmet, congratulating him. They affirm each other when they do good, and they talk about it in deep talks on the sidelines like brothers, when something is going badly. Somebody gets a stop on 3rd down and they all fist bump and dance, together. And when something really amazing happens, they take a group photo.
And the coaches, too, of course. But I think the main thing we are seeing with this defense, is that these guys really do believe in themselves, and they play every snap like it's a step on the journey, like they are trying to get somewhere, trying to get from HERE to THERE. They believe in it. So do I! |
Re: ELI APPLE
Eli has been beer and better. Whole D has.

Re: ELI APPLE
Eli Apple says the Saints are bringing out the best in him
"Apple has started eight games for the Saints and already has more interceptions as a Saint than he had in two and a half years as a Giant — including a big interception in Monday night’s win over the Panthers. Apple thinks he’s in the right place." https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...e-best-in-him/ |
