Saints' Terron Armstead frustrated after aggravating pec injury; hopes to return for playoffs
1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead thought he was good to go.
He suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Week 10 on Nov. 11, and nearly a month and a half later, he and the Saints training staff thought he was ready to return for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steeelers. “I felt good during the week, and we’ve been working on it for five, six weeks, so we all felt like it was time to go,” Armstead said Sunday. “It just wasn’t.” https://expo.advance.net/img/95bd645...e6_bg0653.jpeg In the second quarter of the Saints' 31-28 win at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Armstead aggravated the injury that forced him to miss the previous five games. After the play, a 20-yard reception by Michael Thomas, Armstead was on a knee near the Saints sideline for an extended period before going to the team’s injury tent. Armstead emerged from the tent after the Saints drove to a touchdown, and he returned to the game for the next drive. He even played into the second half, but late in the third quarter, he came out for good. “I tried to fight as long as I could and then it got worse,” Armstead said. “I tried it again, and I just wasn’t able to. I didn’t want to be a liability to anybody else, so I had to shut it down.” The Saints' adoration of Armstead was clear in the game as running backs Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram both went into the injury tent to check on the Pro Bowl left tackle. more on NOLA |

I hate it for Armstead, but man he just can't seem to stay healthy. Very frustrating.

Hopefully getting a two week rest will help and he'll be ready to go for the divisional round.

I really like him when he is healthy but this is getting ridiculous. It is frustrating that this dude cant make it to halftime.

The Steeler he was defending went right for that injury, punching him in it.
And they will continue to do so until he gets a full off-season to mend it. |
Re: Saints' Terron Armstead frustrated after aggravating pec injury; hopes to return for playoffs
I have no insight on TA's current injury status, however we'll need him in 3 weeks or at worst the NFC title (assuming we take care of business) game . The drop off from Armstead to Peat is enormous.
I'd also sit Ramz vs Carolina. Getting somewhat healthy is paramount for our All Pro tackles heading into the playoffs. |

Nobody in the league plays LT as well as Armstead. I hope he can get right over the next two weeks. We need him healthy.

Re: Saints' Terron Armstead frustrated after aggravating pec injury; hopes to return for playoffs
When health, Armstead is the best LT in the league. The guy just can't stay healthy though. I think we could get a big return for him in a trade in the off-season. Right now though, I just hope he's ready for the playoffs.

Re: Saints' Terron Armstead frustrated after aggravating pec injury; hopes to return for playoffs
I read somewhere the Steelers were continually punching him in the chest all game long... Pretty dirty play to try to re-injure a player.

Wouldn’t surprise me the steelers has always been known as a dirty team |

That play you could see the DL slap him in the chest. It was pretty clear that’s what they were trying to do.
