The stats run counter to this sentiment. Each of the last 10 SB participants over the last 5 years have had a bye. The last team that didn't was the 2012 Baltimore squad.

SaintFanintheATL, let me be more specific, I'm talking about having the starters take two (2) weeks off - that's worrisome considering the a wall we hit for a few weeks offensively...

I understand exactly what you are talking about. But no amount of routine or momentum can balance out the risk of an injury to a key player possibly making them unavailable for the playoffs. A game is an uncontrolled environment. The only way to ensure that an injury occurs in that environment is to keep players out the game.

The entire team is going to practice this week. It really doesn't make much sense to think that after playing 4 months of football, that all of a sudden everything that has been drilled in will be lost due an extra week where an actual game isn't played.

It's not like this is a young team with no playoff experience. It's not like this is a team that doesn't have a SB winning coach and QB. A coach and QB that went on their SB run with 3 straight losses and a bye week. Like you, I was around in 2009. And exactly the same arguments were made then.

Those games where on the road too. We now have dome sweet dome. I still would have them play a few series though. Call a few quick outs so Drew doesn't take a hit and ride high in the playoffs.

Rest 'em after a half, maybe into the 3rd quarter - then just run, run, run - eating up that clock...

2009 we thought it was crazy too.
Also against Carolina I believe

Propose your list. Let's see who's closest on Sunday. Here's mine:

Brees, Cam Jordan, Armstead, Bushrod, D. Davis, Lattimore, Michael Thomas

I'll take Brees, Armstead, Bushrod, Kamara, Unger, Thomas, and Jordan.

The good part about the defensive players is that you can keep them active but limit their snap counts because of the number of players you dress. Harder offensively, primarily on the line.

I would cut Cobbs and add Williams or Wozniak from the PS. Have no idea if either are anywhere close to being able to play 20 snaps, but hey, it's an exhibition game

JUST FORFEIT THE GAME, ROGER WOULD LOVE THAT

I would imagine that Drew Brees would like to throw for eight more yards. Another 4,000 yard season would look good on his stats. We know Drew enjoys owning all the records. Still, he would rather win the Lombardy then ever break another record.

Changed my mind. Rest anyone and everyone we can afford to.
Win division. Check.
Home field. Check.

It’s time to prep our warriors for extreme battle.
