The New Orleans Saints still have one regular season game remaining before beginning the playoffs.

But for those looking ahead to next season, the Saints' opponents for 2019 are set now that all four NFC division champions have been crowned.

The Saints, who won the NFC South, will play NFC East champion Dallas and the NFC North champion Chicago Bears next season.

Those were the final two opponents that weren't already known.

As always, the Saints will play division foes Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay twice.

In addition, the Saints will play teams from the NFC West (Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Rams) and the AFC South (Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans).

Five of the teams on the Saints' 2019 schedule have clinched playoff spots this season. The winner of this weekend's game between the Colts and the Titans will also likely make the playoffs.

The Saints home games will be against the Panthers, Falcons, Buccaneers, Cardinals, 49ers, Texans, Colts and Cowboys,

In addition to the division road games against Carolina, Atlanta and Tampa Bay, the Saints will travel to play Tennessee, Seattle, Chicago, the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville.

Three of the Saints' road opponents for next season (Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and the L.A. Rams) are scheduled to play one of the league's international games. So the Saints could possibly play one of those opponents in London or Mexico City.

The NFL schedule will be released in April.

Wow, we have to go to Seattle AND Chicago AND the Rams, again?

Why do those teams rarely come here?!?

Historically we've played Seattle 15 times (including two playoff games - both in Seattle) and we've played in the dome only six times. To be fair the last game against them was in NOLA. Last game against the Bears was in NOLA, as was the last Rams game.

While it might seem the football schedulers are against us, it just is an unlucky roll of the dice that all our hard games will be on the road because they playing all played in our house last time.

The game site against the rotating NFC divisions alternate every third year so it will have been six years since we had to play the divisional games against the Rams and the Seahawks at their homes. The two NFC games against the team that finishes in the same position divisionally are the only ones not set in stone.

Quote:

Two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference — one game at home and one on the road. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.
So, the Dallas and Chicago game locations are the only two "arbitrary", but since we played at Dallas this year they may have designated Dallas at home leaving Chicago on the road.

Need to research that a bit, though.

Season ticket holder perspective - this is a very weak home schedule. Hope to see some Monday night games and ZERO out of the country 'home games'.

Saints Cowboys to open the season. ;)

I thought I answered this question. I then realized there are two of these threads out there. Here's my reply to the other thread:

Quote:

Nothing special here. We're playing @Seattle because we're playing the entire NFC West next year as scheduled three seasons after the last meeting with that division in 2016. The Saints are going there because the last game in 2016 was in the Dome. 2013 may seem tilted because the Saints had to go to Seattle twice. The regular season game was the regular rotation (2013: @Seattle, 2016: @NO, 2019: @Seattle) while the playoff game was simple seeding, Seattle was the #1 seed and the Saints the #6 seed.
I'm not sure how scheduling was done before divisional alignment in 2002. But since home/away have followed strict alternation as it's supposed to be. As I pointed out above the two playoff games in Seattle were scheduled according to playoff scheduling.

Bears have had a nice season, but they played the AFC East and a last place schedule, and the weakest NFC division. Tough game, yeah.

Seattle has only beaten 2 playoff teams. Tough environment, but average team. Also had a soft schedule

the rest is what it is
