Levar Fisher
what do u guys think of this guy.....theres been alot of talk about all our other lb's and pick up another vet....but this guy was rated higher than peter boulerware and some of our current lb's in the free agency by some people...besides that we got hes younger and didn't hit our cap as hard as peter woul....i know he has had injury problems but so did peter and peter had a better supporting cast .....in which would free him up to make more plays.....do u guys think that uf ray lewis and company was not there he would still put up the same #'s......i think the guy is a solid lb.....got some info take a look........

RE: Levar Fisher
I think he has a lot of talent and if he could stay healthy I think that he could make a sizeable contribution to our franchise. However, I'm not sure about him being better than Peter Boulware, something tells me that even with a better supporting cast, Boulware is the better player. But I like Fisher's value and hopefully he can prove something to the coaches and to his team.

So you guys are gonna get excited about a reject from one of the only teams more pathetic than the Saints?
Pffft. Maybe the Hornets can start signing some of the Clipper's rejects too. Sorry, but I'm just a realist, dude! |
The only thing similiar between Boulware and Fisher is that they are both African American and play linebacker. It ends there. The guy hasn't stepped on the field in a couple of seasons and he's getting all this hype. Ah I remember when people were comparing Cie Grant and Ray Lewis. Sigh.

Right on papz. Kinda like Chase Lyman and, oh, who was it I compared him to? Mr. Glass, yeah that's it.
|
Who is this Mr. Glass that you speak of? :P

You can't sling a dead cat in this town without everyone hyping Fisher. Totally clueless boobs I tell ya. Lets keep it real shall we? Place your orders now. I got so much realism, I'm practically givin' it away. |
Maybe he can help use... lord noes we need it.

It would be nice if Fisher could make a contribution on the field this year, but I don't see it happening. We got him from the Cards, why would they let him go if he was a decent LB? He has put up some good numbers in the past, but I'll take the wait and see approach before I give the guy my vote.

I posted a ton on this guy earlier. Originally a WLB, he's put on weight, is still fast as hell, and should be fully recovered. I think Zona replaced him with Dansby, if I'm not mistaken.
The whole story on him was that Green thought he should have been ready to play last year after an ACL in 2003. Fisher didn't feel he was ready. He got into Denny Green's doghouse and never got out. I feel with the extra year off he should be fully recovered. When healthy he was a good LB. I think he can play SLB (he sheds blockers well and plays in traffic well) or WLB (speed and power). If he's back to 100% (nearly 2 years removed from his ACL) he could be a real player. If he's still recovering he'll be useless. |
Here's what I posted last month.

Are people gonna bring up Colby's size weaknesses as a 219 pound LB when he now weighs a muscular 246? Are you gonna say you don't want Colby based on his college scouting report? |
Quote:
Colby doesn't have an injury history. Colby appeared to be a stud when on the field last year. Colby has bulked up as well. How is it you can list positives from a scouting report and say you want a guy but I can list negatives from a scouting report and it should not be trusted, or, it was from college so it shouldn't be? I would prefer Colby try at SLB over Fisher. I have seen him play and feels like he can be very good. It's not the end of the world. I am sure Fisher will do something. |

I think either you misunderstood me, or I didn't explain myself well enough. I'll try again. I listed his attributes I feel would qualify him as a good SLB prospect. His negatives (at the time of that scouting report) were basically size/strength related. So if he has addressed the size/strength issues (as Colby apparently has) then I feel he is quite capable of sliding over to SLB. I never said he'd be better than or worse than Colby. I guess the SLB attributes I listed could also be affected by his increased size/strength, but thats unlikely in my opinion. My main worry with Fisher is if he's recovered from his ACL. |
Adding size and strength are a good thing for Fisher, hell any of our LBs, but will the added size work well with his gimpy knee? I am glad he has bulked up cause it shows a commitment to improve. Personally, I would prefer they just try Colby at SLB. It may not work, but if it does, we know colby is a beast. He is fast, and does not have injury issues, at least not yet. It would be nice if fisher could play SLB, but if he is doing well, and 3 games in he is hurt, leaves us in a lurch at SLB again. But if we have Colby there and getting the reps, Fisher can spot him for rest situations, and we can see how he would hold up. They both would get time at SLB, with Colby getting the lion's share. I guess I am just not sold on this Fisher cat to trust him like that. I hope he, and well as many other players, simply prove me wrong and play balls out. But I know for a fact if Colby is on the field, he will play balls out. I don't have to hope for that.

So what's the outlook now depth chart wise?
WLB: Buckwoldt, L of Fincher/Watson, D Rodgers, Fisher, every other LB on the Team. MLB: W of Fincher/Watson SLB: Allen, Hodge, ??? |
Quote:
I've also read that the Cabel Rohlof kid might be able to play SLB also. Never heard of him other than we claimed him off the PS from the Ravens. I think the rookie Rabe is also a SLB prospect but if you wanna look at somewhat proven players at SLB we don't have a leg to stand on. James Allen, 6 good games can't erase the 10 horrible ones he had before that. Does he finally get it? Dunno Sedrick Hodge, good back-up, but not much else. Rohlof-Not a clue about this guy Rabe-Don't know. His scouting report looks good. Several teams contacted him after the draft. Of course if I had to choose a team I thought I could make, it would be New Orleans. Fisher-Has the tools, but has he fully recovered from the ACL, and can he make the switch to SLB? |
Is it possible for Fincher to slide to SLB? I know he plays MIKE, but if Colby and Watson take the WLB and MLB, could he play some SLB? I guess I would really like to see Colby and Watson start this year and play really well. Nothing against Allen, but I am not sold on the guy yet. He did have a few good games, but it seems he should have played better.
I think Buckwoldt, Watson and Allen are going to end up our starters. Hey, they played well late last season, maybe they are the answer. I think Fincher brings a lot to the table, but is he pushing Watson at MLB? Too many questions at LB! |

if he does beat out watson at MLB....watson gonna start at WLB..he is gonna start no matter what....it just depends how well fincher plays...thats gonna determen where..... |
