Saints to sign Tyrunn Walker after Sheldon Rankins' injury
 

The New Orleans Saints were quick to make a move after losing starting defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins to a torn Achilles. New Orleans will reunite with Tyrunn Walker, a former undrafted free agent who began his career with the Saints. The signing was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Walker was a player who shouldn’t have gotten away from the Saints in the first place. He was a productive part of the defensive line rotation for several years before leaving for the Detroit Lions in 2015. Unfortunately, Walker broke his leg early in the season and spent time with the Lions, Los Angeles Rams, and Buffalo Bills in the years that followed before returning to New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints are turning to a familiar face to help the defensive line in the NFC Championship game.

Defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker is signing with the Saints, according to an NFL Network report, and he’ll provide depth after the team lost Sheldon Rankins to a ruptured Achilles in the divisional round win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

nice chance for a local guy to get a playoff check and fill a spot on the practice field...but he's not dressing Sunday

But it still sucks not a having a game changer in Rankins on that line.

I saw the same thing. They didn't score after Rankins went down. I'm not saying that is the reason, but that they are perfectly capable of still being dominant with the others in rotation. Sure, we'll miss Rankins, but not as much as some of the talking heads are implying.

Those are 3 very talented guys. But there’s no way they’d see much playing time with a 1st rd pick in Rankins playing lights out this season.

Rotation and having guys fresh is going to be key to stopping the rush unless our offense can get up early on the Rams. They use CJ Anderson to wear you down. I think they ran the ball like 45 times last week.

Alright I like that. Familiarity and he played for the Rams last season so maybe he has some insight.

Yes, but I’m my eyes he has done more than enough this season for me to write that off as coincidence and solid depth on the team. Rankins has become a player that offenses had to account for. Make no mistake, he will be missed. At this point in the season it’s nice to know we have other relatively fresh players who can hold their own.

The whole team momentum shifted and pretty much took over the game.
Will say that the Eagles have some physical monsters on their lines, this game was no walk in the park.

We are okay guys we’re alright pretty boy Mcvay as they say will throw more I candy at us than the turds game but our backers are a little more agile than Sean lee by the way was just stupid for not playing vanerleche more and the little new bowling ball Anderson will be a winged duck after his action last week and we no gurlley hasn’t done much on our de we’re alrite the dubs need to keep everything in front and let they boy wonder zerline hit his chips

I wouldn't write off a miss-match: all players have at least one, and Rankins may have found his against the Iggles.
