Sorry RailB -
I had no intention of raising your blood pressure in that game but I had a sick feeling that if this contest was close at the end, we would get screwed over. I've watched enough NFL playoff football to know better. Nothing is easy at this level. Saints couldn't overcome the refs and the Rams. To say we were robbed is putting it lightly. It's one thing to let teams play, it's another to let a team get away with a blatant penalty. Didn't this s*** looked like rigged wrestling? Yet wrestling is a billion dollar industry. Go figure. |

Re: Post On Gameday Thread That Haunted Me
Like the post I made, I had an uneasy feeling about it from the get go knowing how the NFL in general is.

No KMajor I was okay just the normal out of control blood pressure. However
when you posted that I was thinking the exact same thing. |

Especially when the D got an interception and we started at their 15 yard line, then only got a FG. I had a feeling it would hurt us later.
In week 9 the rams came back from 21 points down, 13 points was nothing to them. |
Re: Post On Gameday Thread That Haunted Me
It was the same issue with the Divisional playoff game vs Minnesota, Payton went conservative and that's not who these Saints have been under Payton which is well-calculated misdirection risks...
When you go against your nature, as Payton did, you usually pay dire consequences, as the Saints did... Payton was brilliant in the post-game new conference to come out and say essentially Well, they called me and told me they blew it; he effectively deflected any criticism of his awful performance... Not saying the Robey-Lewis non-call wasn't critical, the game swung as it did, but Payton still hasn't learned the lesson that in our franchise's entire history - don't let it come down to the officiating, we'll lose... |
Re: Post On Gameday Thread That Haunted Me
I'm thinking Donald & Suh limited SP's playbook, he had no answer for keeping those guys from occupying our backfield.
They pretty much shut down our run game and put enormous pressure on Drew. |

Ask anyone who's played any kind of line position in football how critical that is... With all the brouhaha over Rankins, the real injury concern was that offensive line and its lack of developed depth... Still, we had the Lambs where we wanted them and we kicked FGs as was pointed out by numerous folks who all agreed it came back as the difference in the game... |

Payton needs to move, package the fragile, lack of pain tolerance Mr. Glass and get a first or second day pick back that he so cavalierly throws away... Move either Peat or Ramczyk to LT and get a new LG or RT in that respective position... Keep Unger to transition either Tom or Clapp... And then keep some quality depth behind those guys, don't let guys like Senio Kelemete out of the door... |
