NFL video shows what Sean Payton, Drew Brees said before controversial no-call

Drew Brees came to the sideline with 1 minute, 58 seconds remaining in the New Orleans Saints' NFC Championship loss Sunday and said to Sean Payton, “We got to be smart here.”

I really can’t bring myself to watch right now. Maybe next week.

Not that it was the main cause of the loss, but they weren't smart there.

We blew a 13 point lead, the play calling was pretty bad, and Geoff started to move the ball at will in our house. We still should have won getting saved by a penalty. At the end of the day we got out coached and out played by a better QB.

We out-coached ourselves and while Drew should've played better, he's a better QB than Goff...

Payton ignored that our defense was wearing down and failed to utilize Ingram enough and utilized Kamara too much inside...

Drew was not the better QB Sunday. I do put a lot of the blame on the line but Drew wasn’t his regular self. Age or injury, idk.

If the pass to MT had been 6" higher the Saints have either a touchdown or a first down.

This. The stack inside screen to MT was wide-open with all the Rams LB's keying on the inside run. The call looked like a good one, just something wrong with the execution between Brees and MT. Can't know whether it was Brees misfiring or MT turning upfield too soon/far. Probably a little of both.

I believe Brees hurried the pass; if he had 'thrown him open' Thomas walks into the endzone.

Say that the Saints scored with 1:53, would the defense have stopped the Rams? It's all "Ifs and Buts and Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda"

One scenario that played out in my head ... what if we'd managed to score 7, but the Rams came up short on their drive? Everyone would be talking about how McVay second guessed himself on the previous possession going for 3 on the goalline instead of the TD.

I believe that the Saints defense would have kept the lambs from scoring a touchdown.

They missed a face mask on us but they missed two plain as day PI calls against them and one huge PI/helmet to helmet/defenseless receiver call that should have taken us to the superbowl. We did not get out coached we got robbed and it was hands down the worst no call in NFL playoff history.

Their front four dictated our play calling. We have to get better on the O-line.

The odds are far more significantly weighted for a Saints win...

I'm inclined to agree as the only area they were moving the ball was in the underneath, flats, and there wasn't enough time to go downfield sans multiple mistackles...

The helmet to helmet kits on Kamara, all season, were getting pretty obvious to what teams were trying to do - and still Commissioner Goodell did little in the interest of player safety...

Can't blow a 13 point lead to the NO.2 SCORING OFFENSE, If you expected a shutout of the Rams you're a bit delusional....Drew had some missed opportunities, the Oline did him ZERO favors. The TD right before be halftime should not have happened and the dropped TD by Dan Arnold alond with the MISSED PI on Ginn on the 3rd and short, and of course the biggest BS non call in history of non calls

We probably get the truth 10 years from now when nobody cares on what really went down with the refs. What happened was beyond blown call. Way outside the conversation of didn't see it or bad angle. There is going to have to be a rule change to deal with it. It ruins the game.

Just like last year. We had plenty of opportunities to put them away and didn't. You could say Drew's Int in overtime was the game breaker. I'm going to say this out loud for the first time. We really need to find out replacement for Drew. He has 1 year left and it's next year.

There needs to be a real stealthy investigation just to rule out foul-play and reassure consumers their product isn't fraudulent; and to have a former Ram calling the game is terrible optics at the least...

It's already fraudulent ... like Saintfan said, it was premeditated, plain and simple.

Welcome to the WWE.

Re: NFL video shows what Sean Payton, Drew Brees said before controversial no-call

The odds are far more significantly weighted for a Saints win...

Don't talk odds: The Saints odds were 96% in favor of a win against the Vikings when Keenum launched that pass to Diggs. Like I said all "Ifs and buts, Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda......

Going from 4 percent to 100 percent win probability is amazing in of itself, but it is more impressive that Keenum and Diggs were not only able to connect on a pass that traveled 27 yards in the air, but tack on 34 yards after the catch for a score. Last season, quarterbacks completed just 160 of 570 (28 percent) passes that traveled at least 25 yards past the line of scrimmage. Just 23 of those 160 also saw at least 20 yards after the catch. Even less (20) reached the end zone. Not only did the Vikings overcome incredible odds to win, they did it with a play that failed 28 out of every 29 times it has been tried in 2017.
