Ref from Rams-Saints controversy gets confronted by fans while officiating college basketball game

Some students even made a sign asking Vinovich not to screw their team over.

According to a BYU radio host, Vinovich was not happy about the sign and he actually asked for it to be removed after the first media timeout of a game that BYU eventually won 71-66.

Hmmm... Did the check from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment LLC bounce or something? Or is he still working those games to not arouse suspicion about the sudden cash flow?

See, one thing I always took pride in was how other fans were complementary of us as fans...

It's not like I wasn't devastated with the rest of the #WhoDatNation over that FUBAR missed call, among others...

But damn'it, these lawyers, politicians, and FANTATICS are taking some of this sh*t too far and we're losing face now...

Looking like fans from you know where...

As competitive as I am, some here know me personally for years can attest to this...

You Still Show some class for those around you even if you lack it for yourself - Bad Behaviour reflects on all of us...

Oh I'm sure the check cleared. People just heard about his good work and his "efforts" were needed elsewhere.

I agree about some of what you are saying but the facts are the facts and he cost us a trip to the superbowl. All of these idiots in the media can say that we don't know what would happen even if he threw the flag but we know. I hope fans confront him about it until the day he dies or retires. Its damn near a crime the way he robbed us and im just sick Saints fans being the N.F.Ls door matt every since the suspensions that where also BS.

I know what you're getting at, and I agree with the sentiment. I wouldn't encourage harassment, even for someone who might deserve it (unless we're talking about a murder or rapist, or some such criminal), because there is a way to be forceful in making a point, without acting like a maniac.

But much of what I see (not all of it) has not been what I would call maniacal behavior. If someone wants to hold up a sign telling the ref not to blow it for their team, I don't think it's over the top. Depending on the exact language.

And who says this was even a Saints fan? It was in Utah. Sure, there are Saints fans scattered all over the place, but this has been a controversy that most fans of OTHER teams have sided with the Saints on. So, it isn't just people here who are reacting to the no-calls. There's a way to be respectful and still take a stand against corruption. Make no mistake, what happened last Sunday was corruption. We've all seen missed calls. That wasn't a missed call. It was deliberate. We can spend all day theorizing the motives behind it, but it is clear that this was deliberate, imo.

Take President Trump as a perfect example: He doesn't play the "let's all be friends" game. He knew that people needed to be called out and exposed for who and what they are. And it's working for him. Everyone could stand to learn something from that.

It's this kinda of stuff that makes us look bad, especially while the non-essential government was shut-down (though the optics from #fakenews media put proper perspective vs Cassidy, not Richmond)...

Nonetheless, both ARE unaccountable morons...

Was it last year that the NFL re-assigned an official from a Saints game because there was a pic of him wearing a Saints jersey?

How the hell can you be allowed to officiate a game involving a team you played for? That's so F'd up it's hilarious. Aren't there enough physically fit men in this country who never played in the NFL to fill the NFL ref jobs? Oh yeah, let's let Tom Brady be a ref and work Patriot games. Put him in charge of checking the pressure in the balls, too. Might be kinda tough for him, though. He'd have to throw those flags further than he ever had to throw a football.

With all due respect, jeanpierre, I think it's a little dramatic to use the partial government shutdown, as if it's some kind of horrific crisis, to say that they can't discuss this matter. Both sides knew where they stood in the negotiations. I don't think it hurts anybody to bring up the fact that a gazillion dollar business is showing a lack of impartiality with it's officiating.

If the NFL were to be found of fixing games, that becomes an ENORMOUS can of worms. You're talking about essentially scamming fans, and also it would raise a ton of questions about what sort of under the table deals the league might have in regards to gambling. And betters, themselves, would have grounds to sue the NFL for their losses. And that is just the sort of thing that would end the NFL, or at least those currently in charge of it.

I think that's relevant.

I am a referee for rugby and that is incredibly tough.....how the hell do you referee at a high level with two different sports? We need full time refs who train year round for one purpose. To get it right!

Congressfolks should be focused on more serious matters.

No matter how you come down on the Gov't Shutdown (Personally, I'm for far less gov't), those a'holes should be engaged on that issue and others and not trying to preach to the crowd about foosball...

In addition, basketball is far more difficult to officiate and there is much more room for bias, corruption and external influences. Vinovich doing basketball is like putting gasoline on the fire.

I'm for far less government, as well, which is why I'm not particularly concerned when any part of it shuts down. But this isn't just a couple of guys talking about how they're bummed that their team lost. I listed the potential scams that could be going on, and the huge ramifications it would have.

If Congress could grill baseball players about steroids, I think they can do this. Football is a game. The NFL is a mob. I'm all for investigating them. As far as everything else that Congress could be doing, it's going to be a stalemate for the next two years, with Democrats controlling the House. They're going to push their ludicrous agendas, and the Senate is going to block them. I'm sure they spend plenty of time talking about other things, all the same.
