The irony of the Falcons
I've seen quite a few threads and websites where Falcons fans are making fun of us for supporting our team and *****ing about the refs in wake of this officiating travesty. In all honesty, it kind of cracks me up. When I look back at their 28:3 collapse against the patriots... things start to really make since. Saints fans actions don't make sense to Falcons fans, because they have a lethargic fan base. The same reasons they are laughing at us is actually the same reason that the Falcons have never won a Super Bowl and they lost a 25 point lead without ever seeming to notice or care. The Falcons are a franchise that has no heart... no soul... a lifeless mirage of what an NFL team is supposed to be due to them getting some talented players. The reason they laugh is the reason we are better than them.. which quite honestly makes me laugh.

We will have the last laugh when we are playing for a Super Bowl again next year while they struggle to get to 500.

This guy does a great job of addressing this subject at the 9:03 mark.

Re: The irony of the Falcons
I'm getting really tired of the unsolicited fan-on-fan hate, both ways. How do all these "my dad could beat up your dad" grudges even matter during what is effectively the post-season now? If we bottled up all this mis-spent energy I'd bet we could have Goodell overthrown by now and have a much better product to watch from week to week. Mini-rant over.

Re: The irony of the Falcons
Of course they're making fun of us. The simple fact is there is a large portion of the fan base still complaining about something that isnt going to change. There's people suing, politicians are complaining, celebrities too.
I get people are upset. I was. But I've moved on because no amount of *****ing, complaining, suing, or anything else is going to change the outcome of that game. And IMO, the Saints blew a 13-0 lead. They got screwed on the call but still went into OT with control of their own destiny. They even got the ball first. Drew threw a pic and the Rams kicked a huge FG. Game. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Our fan base would be laughing our asses off if the Falcon faithful were doing this. I'm tired of it all. I'm over it. Maybe I'm in the minority here. I respect all of you guys. And appreciate everyone showing their disdain with the outcome and the no call. I just don't see the point in holding onto this. It will get us no where. And it will get the team no where. |
Re: The irony of the Falcons
Unfortunately your right nothing will come of it. We all have to move on, once the disbelief and anger subsides
it will get easier but no one will ever forget. I just thank god we have this forum it has made things a little easier to cope with. |
Re: The irony of the Falcons
Everyone's anger dissipates at different rates depending on how emotionally invested they are in the team. So the diehard Saints fans get lectured about moving on by the bandwagon fans who've already got their Rams and Patriots gear in the mail.

I'm not preaching. In fact I agree that everyone dissipates at different levels. My point was that of course the Falcon fan base is laughing at us. I GUARANTEE many Saints fans would be laughing at them if roles were reversed.

I wouldn't laugh at the Falcons or any other team had this happened to them. Even the 49ers. I want our opponents to succeed or fail on their own terms and then we do our best to overtake them. This Hunger Games crap brings no enjoyment to anyone. Turn your weapons to the capital! |

Stay off other sites if their expected banter is unsettling. Happier life.

Re: The irony of the Falcons
In that Panthers film clip is the Panthers fan swinging the punches, hitting another Panthers fan?
