What if Tommy Lee had flopped?

I wonder ... would the refs have HAD to throw the flag for the helmet-to-helmet?

You know who was great at it ... Jimmy Graham. Miss that dude.

I made that point in another post and it was shutdown. Also, if it was AK instead of TLL would the flag had been thrown. I also pointed out that I know it’s not TLL’s fault but I knew he would eventually cost us another game. Fumbled against Tampa last season and touchback against Panthers that almost cost us this season. Not his fault but the guy is just snake bit.

TLL would have probably gotten an offensive pass interference call.

It had crossed my mind that Michael Thomas might’ve gotten the call.

Thought about it too maybe just maybe he would have had to throw it if he’s in pain and distress or drew Brees go bonkers on the sideline ala p. Rivers/ Arron Rodgers

I was thinking the same. He should have just hit the ground. AK gets hit in the helmet all the time with no flags.
In fact I can’t remember a season when I saw more players get away with it. I expected a lot after all the offseason helmet rule hype.

Tommy wasn't getting that call. Nobody was getting that call. If we rule out incompetence then there was a specific reason the flag wasn't thrown by 4 highly touted professional referees. What difference does it make who the WR was or whether he flopped or he didn't.

The thought crossed my mind as well... that portends to a coaching issue. Maybe we have progressed with the sorry state of officiating to a state where acting is needed to elicit a proper call from these fraudulent refs.

how can a flop be better than the initial response to a violent hit to the head? He actually did hit the ground. Do you mean to pretend to be seriously injured?

I thought about this but he was never going to call anything. RS he probably calls it.

He wanted nothing to do with being stamped as the guy that ruined it.

I don't even blame him to be honest. Should have never been in that situation. I blame the NFL for not factoring in human emotions in the second highest stakes game of the season.

Not trying to bash the guy, but TLL shouldn't have been an option in that crucial moment. He's one of the least sure handed players on offense. Small guy with tiny hands.

I wish him all the best in ever facet of life, but not with the Saints.

One thing I’d like to add about TLL, the guy has value. I think he’s one of the best, if the the best guy we’ve had at fielding punts. Just as long as he catches it and not try to return it. When he tries to return punts, he scares me half to death. Just fair catch it and have a seat. There was a game this season which I can’t remember where the announcer commented on how Tommy fielded a punt and caught it with all hands. It was pretty nerve wrecking but he caught it with ease.

Re: What if Tommy Lee had flopped?

Keep this in mind.... If he'd taken a flop, they might very likely have called in from upstairs and taken him out of the game for the head-to-head hit, and potentially benched him. Remember in the playoffs in 2013 the NFL league officials in the booth called down from upstairs late in the game, and took out Keenan Lewis, took away his helmet and made him sit.

Bad things happen when Tommy Lee Lewis is on the active roster.

Better play call would have won us the game, refs obviously messed up but we had a ton of chances to go 10 points up and Brees pretty much squandered all of them.

Neymar is still one of greatest players on the planet (also my son's favorite) but he "flops" better than most.
