Golden Alvin Kamara mural appears on St. Claude Avenue
Artist Devin DeWulf planned to paint a major mural of beloved running back Alvin Kamara if the New Orleans Saints made it to the Super Bowl. As every Who Dat knows, the Saints were denied their chance by some beyond-questionable officiating during THE GAME THAT MUST NOT BE MENTIONED. Under the circumstances, DeWulf decided to execute the enormous Kamara mural anyway. Look for the glinting gold icon at 3330 St. Claude Ave.

Wow, that's a rough neighborhood (near the old Desire Housing Projects); the original Wagner's Meats was near there (slogan was - You Can't Beat Wagner's Meat!)...

It's not as rough down there as it used to be. The area is gentrifying. But that mural is freaking great. I'm no armchair art critic, but I absolutely love how the guy just freestyled with his own imagination and went with his own ideas. Alvin is riding on a white alligator in a 1980s Miami Vice style suit while carrying a loaf of Vietnamese po boy bread. What's not to love? This is exactly the kind of shot in the arm of healing that we all need right now.
