TLL maybe the best player in the league at fielding punts. But the worst in terms of return yardage.

Update: Westhoff spoke with the Times-Picayune, explaining that he will go back into retirement: “I was surprised and very disappointed in what happened,” regarding Banta’s firing and the general staff overhaul, “The only way I would’ve considered coming back is if Brad were there.”

I thought our ST had improved a lot, especially the coverage units, since Westhoff came onboard. I'm kinda surprised by this.

If you get a chance, listen at the interview Westhoff had with Franchesca (sp) right after the Rams game. He was as defeated as anyone ... especially the way it ended. His leadership & coaching really made a difference on special teams.

I thought our special teams unit was pretty good last year.

The return game could use some improvement, but my main focus was on the FG kicking %. Lutz had what was the best year of a kicker in the Payton era. I'll take that over Hartley, old Carney, Forbath and the other kickers who frustrated us endlessly with misses.

Westhoff knows more about special teams than most coaches combined.

I think our special teams was quite good this year. We had alot of success on trick plays, punt blocks at timely moments, and our coverage was very respectable. Returns weren't super impressive but the league changes have made it pretty difficult to excel there.

I hope he has a list of assistants to come in that actually know how to coach.
