The 2019 salary cap will be $188.2 million
The 2019 league year starts in less than two weeks and teams now know the exact salary cap figure they’ll be working with in free agency.
The NFL has officially set this year’s cap at $188.2 millions, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The league had projected a cap figure “in the range of $187.0 million to $191.1 million” late last year. https://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wor...0&h=632&crop=1 In 2018, NFL teams had $177.2 million at their disposal and this is the sixth straight year that the cap number has risen by at least $10 million. In all, the cap has risen over $68 million since it was set at $120 million for the 2011 season. That flood of money has made for a flurry of deals in the early hours of free agency in recent years and Friday’s word of another big jump should lead to the same come March 13. If any team has the cap space to load up for a run, it's the Colts. They could do it and they have the luxury of an improved defense and a decent o-line. I look for them to be a potential dark horse candidate in the AFC. They could be a 12-4 type team next year. |

Superbowl Winning Teams, Namely the Patriots, and the others that have won in this era have done it more through the draft than Free Agency...

Have you noticed how few guys are in their draft war room ? Meanwhile every year it seems like the Texans, Buffalo or Jacksonville have like 15 guys in the room :rolleyes:. It is a testament to the ability of Belichick the way he can develop a roster. They build a team and not just collect talent. He never falls in love with a player but the value they bring. Love em or hate em, I have a lot of respect the way that organization can assemble Championship winning teams over the last decade. We gotta let Peat go. We can’t be paying both guards $8+ mil. Take the above mentioned Patriots method and let the FA walk while we plug in someone else.
