Saints to sign former Patriots DT Malcolm Brown
 

The New Orleans Saints addressed one of their needs in free agency on Thursday as they agreed to a deal with a defensive tackle.

Malcom Brown, formerly of the New England Patriots, is set to sign a three-year deal, according to a league source. The agreement is pending a physical.

NFL Network first reported the deal on Thursday afternoon, noting it’s worth $15 million over the three years.

This is a good signing. 2015 draftee, 3 year starter for the Pats.

It’s good value for a NT with his pedigree (1st round pick, Super Bowl champ, etc.) I’d call it an upgrade at the position.

Depth is the name of the game here. DT was a huge need for the Saints.

IMO Stallworth was as good as Tyeler last season ... and cheaper (rookie contract) too.

IMHO Stallworth was great off the ball and pressuring qb but Tyeler was more stout against double teams and disruptive in run stopping. Both are great players with the possibility of Stallworth becoming better.

Malcolm Brown, in other words is a BIG question mark. I would've preferred Tyeler Davison,,time will tell if Brown was worth it

Stallworth is still under contract. Davison should be resigned.

Cool...now sign Davison to a reasonable contract and wait for an improved line when we get players back from IR and/or suspension. This should keep us competitive on the line to start the season where we have several questions.

5M per year for an upgrade. This is a solid move, even without the injury to Shimmy Sheldon Rankins. We'll be in terrific position if TD re signs on the cheap.

Saints needed depth regardless with the expiring contract of Tyeler.
