It will change when the roles are reversed. Had the Rams lost to the Saints because of a no-call, most NFL owners would have been screaming for a fix and it would have been implemented...proto.

See the Favre Rule for one recent example.

The NFL wants to Control the Outcome of Games.

It is that simple and obvious. There is no other reason. :rolleyes:

I predicted we would have to beat the Refs in the playoffs and was right.
I also predicted that the NFL would do nothing and have been proven right.

Need I go on or have any of you figured this out? :confused:

As much as I hate the non-call, I am going to say this publicly:

The Saints Lost The Game!!!!!!!! It should have never come down to that non-call.

The Saints had three red zone opportunities in the first quarter, if I remember correctly and only got 13 points instead of 21. We already know the lambs can't overcome a 21 point deficit.

Saints just improved on their history of failure since the Minnesota Miracle, the defender tackles the WR and the Saints are in the NFCC game.

Thank you, I have been saying this all along.

The game was not lost on that non-call.... We won the coin toss in OT and immediately turned it over.

Game should've never came down to that point, period. Once we got up 20-10, we did nothing.... The Brees bomb to Ginn was the last positive play we had the rest of the game and it was a miracle, was nearly intercepted.

Something went really wrong for our offense beginning with the Dallas game and they never recovered. I don't know what it was, but they never figured out how to fix it. The defense kept us in games for that final month while the offense would piddle around barely able to do anything. Seriously hope everyone is thankful for the defense, cause we probably wouldn't have won another game for the rest of the year without them. They kept us in games while the offense struggled.

Up 13-0 and later 20-10 and we just couldn't shove them all the way down off the cliff. The defense tried so hard to bail them out one last time, as they had been doing for over a month now.

It shouldn't have come down to that point and to be absolutely fair; we didn't look all that impressive against the Eagles (a team that had no business even getting that far. They had to ice the kicker in Chicago when he made the first kick). The defense did a master performance holding that team to below 90 yards for 3 quarters while we struggled to just barely put 20 points on the board and give them one last shot to win. Pull up the yard stats for the Eagles game and we should've been blowing them out, but we didn't (stupid penalties being one of our big problems), they just barely put 20 points on the board.

I am not convinced one bit we would've beat the Patriots. When other fans tell me we would've, I ask them if they watched how bad our offense had played for the final month and in the playoffs. I have no doubt Brees puts more than 3 points on the board, but most the game would've been him struggling to move the ball down the field cause Bill B would've gameplanned to take away our only two weapons on offense (Kamara and MT) and the game would've went a lot like the Dallas game and every game after that.

If the ridiculously obvious non-call was the only bad call I could agree with you, but they were mugging our receivers all game and getting away with it. I'll take it a step further and say we beat the Iggles the previous week IN SPITE of the non calls in that game. Everyone can believe what they like but I know what I saw.

So, if you accidentally stumble into the wrong part of town and get mugged, stripped naked, robbed and end up near dead, I guess you just say "my bad". No need to call the cops to make sure this doesn't happen to the next guy.

But it wasn't. Therefore, the next critical play that would have ALSO assured the Saints victory was the non-call. That was the last play that was a game changer and therefore cost us the win.

Andddd we got away with a blatant facemask on Goff at the red zone right before it was tied up 20-20. If the refs call that, we're down 24-20 and trying to win the game with a TD.

Bad calls happened on both sides, in fact most games have bad calls in them. The Patriots could've screamed about non-calls against KC (in the 4th quarter and OT, the Chiefs were getting away with blatant pass interference in the AFCCG), but they managed to overcome them. It has pained me since that loss that the entire conversation of what went wrong is centered around that one bad non-call. Good teams overcome bad calls, we succumbed to it, unfortunately. The refs didn't make our offense do diddly poo in the second quarter after going up 13-0 and then again in the second half after going up 20-10. We had chance after chance after chance to really throttle those frauds, but we didn't, we let them hang around in the game with enough time to freaking tie it.

Go back and watch tape of the games from the final stretch of the season and both playoff games. Something went wrong with the offense beginning with the Dallas game and they never recovered. Fans blame the refs on everything, but something was wrong with this team and there is no denying it.

I started to panic back in December with that mess against Pittsburgh. We were dominating that team in the first half, then did nothing in the second half after going up 24-14. A 10 point lead was blown and yet the defense was trying to move heaven and earth (2 stops on 4th down and a turnover, not counting the turnover on Pittsburgh's final drive) to win that game, and yet our offense STILL couldn't really do anything. A pass interference penalty was our biggest help to getting that final TD to barely squeak that game out. That was the moment for me I knew we were going to struggle in the playoffs.

IMO the Rams game went eerily similar to the Steelers game; jumped out to a nice lead, opportunity was there to blow them out, blown 10 point lead, offense struggling in the second half to really do anything (and no real offensive adjustments. This was obvious in the second half vs the Rams. After going up 20-10, they had completely shut us down to the point we needed a miracle catch by Ginn as our last real meaningful play of the game.)

I'm tired of talking about the non-call. Everyone seems to forget that many of us were panicking back in December cause we watched this offense just collapse after Dallas beat them down and sadly exposed that our offense only had 2 playmakers worth worrying about (Kamara and Thomas). Every game after that was a struggle; Tampa Bay, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Philly and sadly yes, the Rams gave our offense serious problems. This was all happening before that egregious non-call. Hence why I absolutely will not believe they some how would've beat the Patriots.

That one bad call has completely overshadowed everything leading up to the point that had went wrong for us in that game. It also overshadows that something went horribly wrong with the offense beginning with the Dallas game. No one is talking about either of these things anymore. It's all about that one bad non-call.

That was not a blatant facemask on Goff. In fact, it wasn't a facemask penalty at all. Grasping the facemask of a QB, or any other player, in the act of running (or scrambling) is no longer a penalty. It used to be called as a five yard penalty.

"If a player grasps an opponent's facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul. Penalty: For twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, or controlling the mask: Loss of 15 yards."

Former head of officiating Dean Blandino confirmed after the play that this was clearly the case on that play. Goff's facemask WAS grasped, but was immediately released and therefore NOT a penalty.

That is a fact.

If I had to rank it:
- Poor play execution (had a lead, had opportunities to put it away in each quarter)
- Injured O line (pressure got to Brees too often, this changes every Saints outcome)
- No Sheldon Rankins (rush became ineffective as the game wore on)
- No Ben Watson (he would've accounted for 50yds and a TD)
- Egregious officiating, ultimately and in the end especially:
1) PI on TLL (result 3pts vs 7pts)
1a) Hands to the face by Fowler (result, turnover)
