Fun to imagine - think if we had last years defense with our 2016 offense - Cooks (before he became a cry baby) Rookie Michael Thomas and Willie Snead. That would have been fun to watch!

So, who gets cut from the original roster to make room for all of these UDFA's that are being mentioned to make the 2019 roster?

RB (3) 41 - Alvin Kamara, 28 - Latavius Murray (FA 2019), 27 - Dwayne Washington, 32 - Devine Ozigbo (UDFA 2019), 30 - A.J. Ouellette (UDFA 2019)

Hate Payton's draft moves b/c we lose those mid-late round lottery picks. Fortunately, Football Gods saved him, again, & Ozigbo fell undrafted. 'zigbo has best shot to unseat a vet (Washington) on the roster...

WR-X (2) 13 - Michael Thomas, 18 - Keith Kirkwood, 17 - Emmanuel Butler (UDFA 2019), 15 - Simmie Cobbs, Jr.

Don't expect Butler's transition to NFL competition to go as smoothly as he's not the athlete on the field that his press shot would suggest; maybe sticks around on the PS because of his soft hands...

WR-S (2) 80 - Austin Carr, 84 - Lil’Jordan Humphrey (UDFA 2019), 83 - Cyril Grayson(UDFA 2019), 88 - Micah Wright (UDFA 2019), 81 - Cam Meredith

Payton wants bigger, easier target "buckets" for Drew to drop the ball into on third downs and the red zone and that's why Lil'Jordan Humphrey has an opportune path laying before him...

LG (2) 75 - Andrus Peat, 62 - Nick Easton (FA 2019), 68 - Derrick Kelly (UDFA 2019)

Kelly may resemble Carl Nicks, but doesn't play at all like Carl Nicks; not likely...

RG (2) 67 - Larry Warford, 64 - Will Clapp, 66 - Mike Herndon (UDFA 2019)

Scouting reports are mixed on Herndon, but I like his chances of sticking around on the PS while he builds both core and overall strength...

RT (2) 71 - Ryan Ramcyzk, 79 - Nate Wozniak, 65 - John Ulrick (FA 2019), 73 - Ethan Greenidge (UDFA 2019)

Maybe PS, maybe...

RDE (2) 92 - Marcus Davenport, 57 - Carl Granderson (UDFA 2019), 69 - Corbin Kaufusi (UDFA 2019)

One of two UDFAs with a strong chance to make this roster; Kaufusi is a better athlete than football player, his coachability will be key. After Ozigbo, Granderson has the strongest shot, if he can stay out of jail...

DT3 (2) 93 - David Onyemata, 97 - Mario Edwards, Jr. (FA 2019), 76 - Kenny Bigelow (UDFA 2019), 74 - Shy Tuttle (UDFA 2019), 98 - Sheldon Rankins

Edwards is making the roster either as Big O's or Davenport's reserve; where could depend on Bigelow and Tuttle show; Begelow intrigues me as a NT, not a DT3: Tuttle, fmr 5-star recruit, can't stay healthy...

WLB (2) 56 - DeMario Davis, 51 - Colton Jumper (FA 2019), 54 - Chase Hansen (UDFA 2019), 50 - Darrell Williams (UDFA 2019)

Now Davis isn't going anywhere, but if he were lost for an extended period, Anzalone might kick out to WLB, but the Saints have an opportunity to add some speed depth here and move Robertson inside...

Reasons unknown, D.A. moved MLBer Jumper outside and he looked lost, but played with terrific fire. Hansen is my favorite; if healed, former SS, now WLB (i.e. Panthers OLB Davis) and could be special...

Read that Darrell Williams had gotten all the way down to 215 lbs training for the draft, he's not playing LBer at that weight, even kicking game, at that weight...

MLB (2) 47 - Alex Anzalone, 52 - Craig Robertson (FA 2019), 55 - Kaden Elliss (R7P30, #244), 44 - Darnell Sankey (RFC 2019)

Kaden Elliss (son of Lions DT Luther Elliss) is a terrific athlete; if the Saints squad were in boot camp, he'd be the top recruit from a physical standpoint - Robertson has experience despite declining physical skills...

SLB (2) 53 - A.J. Klein, 59 - Vince Biegel (ERFA 2019), 58 - Porter Gustin (UDFA 2019)

Biegel was once considered the best LBer at Wisconsin, and that includes T.J. Watt; late college injury has really de-railed his career. But Gustin, also bitten with the injury bug will be a challenge for Biegel and Klein...

RCB 34 - Justin Hardee (ERFA 2019) vs 37 - Jordan Wyatt (UDFA 2019)

Hardee's only been a CB for two seasons. Wyatt was an absolute ball hawk at SMU. If he can match Hardee's kicking coverage it'll come down to Wyatt's ceiling vs Hardee's progression at his new position...

LS (1) 49 - Zach Wood (ERFA 2019), 46 - Nick Moore (UDFA 2019)

Payton may not want to mess with a good thing, but Nick Moore is a fmr MiLB Player (Red Sox), and re-started football at UGa at 22 yo...

Well as AG is often pointed out, wisely and correct to some degree, we don't know all the behind-the-scenes drama...

The bigger mistake from the offensive skills position was letting Sprolesie out the house - stupid move; despite Sproles' social-media mouthy, but very loyal wifey, she was right and we all regretted it...

Gosh I miss those wheel routes, just gashing those other teams on third downs, breaking their backs...

Not necessarily. Sean Payton wanted all 5'11 slot guy Adam Humphries this off season. Only thing kept him away from wearing black and gold was the Free Agency sticker price.

Mr. Southlake Carroll aka Jordan Humphrey at best is a practice squad /developmental candidate... he went undrafted for many reasons.

Either of the past two years defense with any offense in the Payton era and we would have surpassed New England as far as Super Bowl wins. I would put money on it.
