We have some good picks but the one for me is Chauncey Gardner - Johnson. Ball hawk, above average tackler, tracks the football extremely well and can sheds blocks better than most at the position.

Swag and confidence.

4th round draft selection but 1st round talent.

This is the pick that stood out to me too.

That was some awesome stuff about his step Dad. It says tons about him and about his step Dad that he would change his name. Wow. Amazing stuff. I love it when cool things happen for deserving folks. Being a parent is hard. Being a step parent might be harder. What a great thing for their family. I'm an instant fan of this kid!

I heard an interview with that kid on the Jim Rome show, of all things. What an awful show that is... At any rate, Chauncey was calling himself the best safety in the draft.

Not that it matters, because most of these prospects will say things like that. I just thought it was weird that he seemed like a random choice for Rome to interview, as I didn't really remember him despite watching a lot of SEC football, and now he's with the Saints.

Ok with this draft except for the WR. I don't see him making the team. Everyone else good role players. I don't see the C starting for a while. I will just say it right now. He will not be center this season.

I didn't say he sucked. The competition is fierce on this team at WR and that's not counting Kamara who is a WR or puts up WR 1 numbers. Two young bucks returning so right there, he's way down. Then no telling what happens in training camp. He's fighting for practice squad material.

Bottom line we came away with what seems to be extreme values in rounds 2 and 4 (edit). Chauncey will absolutely make an impact on ST and possible in nickel right away.
Erik is an elite center prospect. He played three years and allowed ONE sack. He’ll absolutely battle to start day one and I bet he wins the job outright. Easton will be our swing backup.

And upon what do you base this prediction? I have heard he is "plug and play" and "first day starter material". Of course, any input at this point from anyone must be taken with a grain of salt. Although, if Payton wants him to start, he will.

Glad they addressed safety, hopefully he’ll contribute

He looks like great value in the fourth round.... that's not where you usually look for immediate impact players.

And we got the Offensive line(Big Uglies) some beef with attitude and a high IQ. I like it! :biggun:

I love Jordan Humphrey. Runs good routes. Has good size and hands. Most importantly. BREAKS TACKLES! None of our other WRs do that.

Unger retired. Drew hasn't worked with Nick Easton at all so McCoy has that working for him.

Just heard on NFL Radio from Pat Kirwan that Erik McCoy is one of three offensive linemen drafted that he absolutely expects to be a starter immediately.

Reports I've read, he is poor at route running & below avg speed.

He'll have to be great in camp if he intends to challenge Kirkwood, Meredith or Simmie Cobbs for a roster spot.

Until Jordan polishes up on the route running, he's a long shot to make the final 53. Running down the field, catching passes against swiss cheese Big 12 defenses is over.

Training camp awaits.

This interview with Gardner-Johnson was a few days before the draft ...
I'm so glad we snagged him before the Cows.
