Falcons beat writer: $450M not enough for Saints to fix 'dump' Mercedes-Benz Superdome

A day after details were released about the Mercedes-Benz Superdome's $450 million makeover, a beat writer for the Atlanta Falcons wasted no time sending jab across the NFC South.

Jeff Schultz, who covers the Falcons and other teams for The Athletic, called the Superdome a "dump," though he made sure to let the city know it's nothing personal.

https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.town...ize=1200%2C798

"I love the city, the food and the people," Schultz tweeted. "But there's 2 things I know about New Orleans: 1) The stadium is a dump; 2) $450 million won't fix that."

I used to work with that guy's wife. I respected him before that ^^ comment.

Oh, and Jeff, it should be "There are 2 things", not "there's". Subject-verb agreement, Mr. Pro Writer.

The Superdome is anything but a dump. I'd rather see a game there than at that anus looking piece of **** the Falcons call home.

Anyone wonder why the falcons decided to put a CFA in the stadium when they are closed on sundays? These are the type of people we are dealing with.

Re: Falcons beat writer: $450M not enough for Saints to fix 'dump' Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Aaaand the Falcons are basically a "dump" in their stadium.

One other thing Schultz...money can fix the Dome. Money can't ever erase 28-3. We won't ever let that happen.

Yeah, saw that bullshinski on a reply from @JeffDuncan_, and I tweeted this reply to @JeffSchultzATL...

I've been to the "other" MB stadium several times, and it is state of the art. There is also ZERO feel or atmosphere.
The soccer games are intense, but still 1/10 of what the Superdome offers.

Some twatcanoe beat writer trying to stir the pot to make his hometown fans feel like less of a bunch of losers.

Nothing to see here folks.

It is pretty outdated. Even with the recent upgrades. The bathrooms are a dump and probably the worst public restrooms I’ve ever encountered.
It’s iconic and it’s the home of the Saints but it’s a pretty crappy stadium.

I guess he forgot how crappy the fulton county stadium was.

I read the headline and figured the Falcons had done some of their general low life classless sh1t and hurt someone.

It's functional. The seats are comfortable, you can get a beer/take a leak in 5 minutes, and the stands are close to the field.

I'll pass on the pyrotechnics, oversized scoreboard, sushi and craft beer if it keeps my season ticket cost down. It's a stadium, not a freaking country club

I'm sure the bathrooms were included in a more recent upgrade. I remember when the men's rooms were shareable troughs. They are now individual urinals. I was last there for the Eagles playoff game in January and didn't have any issues with the bathrooms.

I never get food at a game, so I personally have no (hot) dog in the hunt. Beer, that's another matter.

You may not want those things but a lot of people do. Things like that bring more Super Bowls (and other national sporting events) to the city which is great for the economy. Right now we are one of the leagues favorite locations for the Super Bowl but the more out dated the Dome gets the less of a chance we have of getting future bids.
A “new” stadium could mean a lot to this city. We need to stop being happy with just “serviceable “ when it comes to anything in this city. The roads are “serviceable “.
By “new” I don’t mean replacing the dome. The Dome is a legendary symbol in New Orleans and is part of a skyline that is as unique as our city. There are good bones there, just redo it.

That's what we are pointing out. Since the Dome was completely gutted in 2006, including all wiring and from what I understand most of the plumbing, it has been "rebuilt". Since 2007 it has had a series of MAJOR upgrades to bring it in line with other venues hoping to regularly host the Super Bowl, and other major events. This new series of upgrades will continue down that path. They are doing EXACTLY what you are wishing they would do.

And, the stadium is only a part of the sales pitch
Seems like the city could look at security, transit, cleanliness, etc in addition to revamping a 50 year old stadium.

In reality, the stadium is less than 15 years old. Following Katrina the Dome was stripped down to a bare shell and totally redesigned throughout.

We can upgrade the Super Dome! The Failcons have a sphincter for a roof, which makes sense considering they are a crappy team and the fans stink.
Aintlanta well represents an A-hole from the roof down!:roflmao:

Seeing loads of teams in England doing the whole new stadium thing. Its terrible, they are all soulless bowls with all the history gone. Who wants a fancy new stadium with increased costs just so can get a fancy beeyor a fancy toilet. Screw that give me a stadium that's intimidating, has got the history the success the heartache. That's what it's all about.

Who goes to stadiums to watch sporting events? Some go for the gourmet food and craft beer served in luxury suites. That's where they close out multi million dollar business deals. Meeting with the presidents of huge well known corporations, rubbing elbows with famous celebrities. Giving and receiving life advice, looking at the "side boobs" of the hot woman next to you! Those suites are equipped with a big screen TV. After all TV is how you watch sporting events!!

Woodstock was not a great venue, but the acts had a lot of talent. The Falcons can have as great of a stadium as they want. Matt Ryan is nickelback. Matt Ryan is Milli Vanilli. I would rather watch Drew Brees play in a flooded chinese electronics recycling scrapyard landfill than see Matt Ryan play anywhere. $450 million is not enough to fix the Falcons stadium, because a hydrogen bomb cannot be bought for that, and thats what it would take to erase Matt Ryan's legacy of choking from the memory of Atlanta.

Restaurants and Pubs could be built to view the field. I wouldn’t mind sitting on the 50 watching at a table being served beer by some hot chick.

You can do the exact same thing at Walk-Ons or Buffalo Wild Wings. Besides, the configuration required to construct an in-stadium restaurant with a field level view would mean the elimination of at least 2000-3000 seats - or more - that could be filled with screaming fans. Instead, they would be replaced by a soundless hole contributing to a sterile environment like that of Atlanta's anus and the monolithic Cowboys home.

No, thank you.

On the bright side we don't have to play in the sphincter dome but once a year. Unless we have to play them an extra game like when we swept Carolina.
