Is a Dez Bryant return to Saints possible?

Dez Bryant appears on the road to completing what he said would be “the ultimate test”.

Less than six months after tearing his Achilles tendon during one of his second practice after signing a one-year contract with the Saints, Bryant posted a video to his Instagram on Monday running routes, making cuts and catching passes on the field for the first time since his injury.

“First time running in a long time…Building confidence,” Bryant wrote in the post.

The 30-year-old NFL veteran who played his first eight years with the Dallas Cowboys was brought in to workout with New Orleans Nov. 6 while the team was 7-1 and searching for more depth at wide receiver behind Michael Thomas while Ted Ginn Jr. continued to rehab from a knee injury.

I don't see it happening unless we are not totally healthy to start the season. Our WR roster has talent and if Meredith can come back strong we probably won't need Dez for anything other than insurance. If we do sign him I'm sure that he can still produce for us if he's healthy. Healthy is of course the key word here.

Why?!? We don't need him. We've got great young receivers now who just need to get their reps, gain experience...

You can't have HOFers at every position, at every level of the depth chart...

We've got elite players at the toughest positions and we're right up against the salary cap doing it...

Patience.

Not gonna happen. Why all the baggy clothing and who could he possibly beat out. I hope he does prove me wrong but this dumb video by himself about shores it up. He was a late season river dredge that should have stayed there.

Hopefully our young guys progress enough that we don't need Bryant.

I just don't see the "explosion" from Dez anymore.

Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor just became available.

I wouldn't mind bringing him in, especially if the WR production is going to look like last year I second it.

I hope he gets a tryout but I don't think there's much chance he could make a team. Good luck to him.

I feel really good about Tre’Quan Smith and Keith Kirkwood going into their second seasons. With MT, Ginn, Smith and Kirkwood there’s probably only room for one more and I really like what I’ve seen from UDFA Emmanuel Butler.

Both have serious on-going injuries.

Kam would be crazy to play again with his neck - know he wants to go, but he's got a great leg up in life than most and he should start that next chaper...

Baldwin just doesn't have the physicality factor to play in the NFL; he's had some big games, just can't stay healthy for that many of them...

We drafted two really, really good safeties (hate doing that in the same year, creates a dilemma like we're gonna see with The Big "O" and Rankins...

I am in favor of bringing Bryant into training camp and allowing him to compete for a job. There are too many unknowns at this point with the younger receivers.

Don't forget DB hasn't played in a game since 2017 , 30 and coming off a serious injury.

IMO Dez would probably be the biggest "unknown" we'd have on the roster @ WR.

Injuries at WR/no experience left the Saints in a pickle late last season + a beat up O line.

Meredith, Kirkwood & 3Smith will be much improved + we signed Jared Cook.

I get the curiosity and potential value. How does that weigh against lost reps to the unknowns? Every rep to Dez is one less rep for an unknown.

Its a hiring managers debacle.. Do I hire the candidate that is degreed, experienced, ready to go now, but at his ceiling. Or hire the undegreed candidate that possibly has a higher ceiling (natural gift) that might take some time to develop?

Why not? Give the man a shot. He suck around this long, and he's got everything to prove to himself and the rest of the league that he's still a threat. I feel like hee could make a top roster spot and become a valid number 2 or 3 slot receiver. I know we are loaded at the position but I'd really like to see him make a comeback.
