RE: Re: RE: where to watch saints games in atlanta
Mama Mae's was the schizznit for Saints games in ATL. I've seen quite a few in there. It was awesome - place had lots of room, great food (gumbo, aligator, etc), good prices, good beer selections, televisions all over the place, and panties hanging from the ceiling. We used to get a crew of about 20 or 25 for that, and we loved it. Everyone was a Saints fan in there.
But.... Mama Mae's closed. They've been gone about 2 years now, I think. ESPNzone isn't great for Saints games. It's -so- crowded, you have to wait for a table (if you get one), it's pricey, and you'll end up watching your game on a little wrist-watch-sized TV from about 25 yards away. You'll be drowned out by all the other fans from other teams, but at least you get your own soundbox on your table. Not the best, IMO. There are a LOT of Saints fans in ATL. I know, because I used to hang out with a crew of them when I lived there. But before I moved back to New Orleans, and after Mama Mae's closed, we started watching the games at each other's houses. With HDTV, it just seemed to make more sense. -- PS -- I know there are still a few Saints fans that go to Laseters Tavern in Vinings. They reserve one of the TV's for the game each Sunday in the gameroom. Not a big crew, usually only a couple of people, but that's the only regular one that I still know of. It's done by a guy named Steve and his wife Connie (who's originally from Houma). Laseter's is a good bar, so I thought I'd mention it. No plasma's though - just standard TV. -LoE |
