The prudent approach. I really expect Davenport to become a force this season.

Marcus Davenport: The Beginning ‚ᴰ⁴ᴸ | Rookie Highlights - YouTube

Check out the play starting around 3:00 ... he didn't get the sack, however "pressure" caused Foles to rush the throw on a crucial 3rd down. BTW, Davenport's bull rush was against #71 Philly ALL PRO/Jason Peters.

I think he took out two backups in that Carolina pre season game. From what I've seen, Marcus is coming up big on 3RD DOWNS.

In his young, short career ...we've seen "flashes" of greatness coming off the edge.

They should really rename "turf-toe" the name doesn't do it justice. That crap plagued Ingram for a couple seasons if I remember correctly. Its a sprain of the big toe and for an athlete that has to 'push off' it can be debilitating depending on severity.

I like how his very first NFL sack came against another All Pro Alex Mack, literally bull rushed him back in Matt Ryan.

Two first round picks and a fifth - so do a lot of us...

Much of what has been done salary-cap, personnel on defense is predicated on his success, availability...

Some good information on it. And yes, a severe case pretty much leaves you without the ability to push off with that foot.

I would understand your angst more if the picks had been top 15 first rounders, but both were in the bottom of the first.

I really hope injury doesnt become a common theme for him throughout his career.

Is there any reason to believe that it would? Or just looking for the black lining? :D

Turf toe hurts like hell.

From my readings, there are varying degrees/grades (3 levels) on Turf Toe injuries.

I remember watching A Football Life and Charles Woodson talk about turf toe & how he had his first issue while playing in Oakland (2000) at the time. Apparently his was so severe, he was never able to shake the injury although he was able to play another decade at a high level. Same goes for Deion Sanders & Ray Lewis.

This injury is no joke.

Get well soon Davenport
.

It really set back Mark Ingram for a couple of years. It can linger indefinitely and never fully heal if you rush back to running too soon. I hope he comes back strong and doesn't rush himself back. It seems like the staff is being cautious with him.

Yet injuries have not been a theme throughout Ingram's career, right? Turf toe is one of the most common injuries in the NFL. I read in a random survey of 80 ex-NFL players that 36 of them had dealt with turf toe during their careers. But, it does not make them injury prone.

He looks awesome. He's got some serious speed. He'll get the opportunity to see more snaps now that Okafor is gone. Hope he's ready.

He was getting starter snaps this year anyway, which might explain why Okafor left. Last year we were teaching him the techniques to be a pro. Nielsen is a really good coach and with a year under his belt I can't wait to see this amazing athlete attack the QB. He was fun as hell to watch get after the QB or chase a RB down the line. There is no quit in that boy!

His film and stats are impressive for a rookie and he should only get better. I do believe that he will be a dominant force for years in the black and gold. :bng:
