I'd temper those expectations - Achilles tear, for his position on the defense, is going to be very problematic...

I really like the move to acquire MBrown this off season.

Large man, space eater & clogs up run lanes on 1st & 2nd downs.

IMO this was a sneaky good signing for the Saints.

If Brown does what we hope he will do then we should be even better when Rankins comes back. Edwards is probably even with Okafor and will be a good rotation piece with Davenport who can play up and down the line. I won't miss Davison although I liked him. Onyamata should only get better and Cam is still playing at a very high level. We should be even better this year when Rankins comes back.

To be honest I was worried about the D-line when Rankins tore his Achilles but Brown should be a fine replacement. I was also worried about the O-line but we addressed that well in the off season.

Remember, Hagan predicted the best signing the Saints could make was a Big NT - and Hagan wanted Damon Harrison???

Brown replaces Tyeler Davison; it's Onyemata who's got to step up with Rankins likely out, or ineffective at the least this season...

It's who's gonna rotate with Onyemata that's the $64K question...

Spent hours over the years discussing draft with Hagan. Were both definitely on the same page when it came to approach of NFL scouting and we came to same conclusion...

Many of these scouts over-complicate their jobs. It's true that general public doesn't often get information they're privy, but sometimes the optics of being too close to the screen gets in the way of the big picture...

We should play more 3/4 in the early part of season . Malcom can handle the middle and we’ve got the linbackers

I agree with this comment.

Bottom line is that Rankins injury is probably the worst injury an athlete can have. Rehab is a big deal, then he has to get into "football shape". This injury occurred in January. This is probably not a popular opinion, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that the Saints could potentially shut him down for the season because it usually takes 10-12 months to recover.

Then you have to take into account of Rankins size. I want him to return but not anything less than 100%.

Hopefully Malcolm B tears it up for us in 2019.

Onyemata is every bit as effective as Rankins. Keep in mind the secondary has now had a full season to gel; plus, we added terrific draft picks; further, we added some proven reserves among the front seven...

We will be more than fine so long as D.A. doesn't get too cute, keeps us close in the first half, and spring those second half traps where opponents can't adjust...

Brees & Co. can hit the gas and pull ahead for the victories...
