YES HE IS! We'll see about Mahomes this year.

I had posted some numbers last year on the other Saints forum showing that his insane stats started to drop when he lost Hunt last year. The Chiefs were begging to be one and done in the playoffs to the Colts with how bad they played in the second half. Adam V missed a field goal and an extra point, taking 4 points off the board. It could have been a 7 point game going into the 4th quarter and of course, no excuse for how the Colts offense laid an egg that day. A better motivated team would've sunk them. |

Cam's answer is golden.
Yes Mahomes was good, but he took a team that Alex Smith took to the playoffs and led them to the playoffs. And yes, I'd like to see the Patriots without Belichek. When Brady was suspended a few years back, they went 3-1 with Jacoby Brissett at QB. Just saying. |

The main issue with the arguments of Brady being a system QB is how bad former Patriots backups have burnt out after leaving NE. Another problem is that the Pats are famous for constantly changing their offensive scheme depending on where their strength in play makers are which defeats the "system QB" label all together, but that's another topic. People hyped up Matt Cassell for his 2008 season and he was little more than a mediocre quarterback his entire career outside NE. Even in 2008, he was overrated that year cause people ignored how bad he played in their blow out losses. Jimmy G looked good at the end of 2017 beating up on bad teams, but came back down to earth last year before his injury. Brian Hoyer is another Brady backup who was massively hyped up and wasn't all that great as a starter. The deal with NE backups reminds me of back in the 90's when people were obsessed with the 49ers offense. Steve Young was often injured and missed games. Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac both racked up some impressive wins while Young was out, leading teams to believe these guys were going to be great. They both had one good season and then burnt out fast. |
