Bert Jones is one of the biggest "what could've been" players in NFL history. For us, we have Archie, but to Colts fans, they have Jones.
His 1976 MVP season still looks amazing by today's standards with the explosion of passing numbers. Jones posted an INT percentage of only 2.3, in an era where INT percentages often averaged over 10% and QBs routinely threw 20 or more picks a season.
I've wondered for a long time what his career would've looked like if the injuries didn't wreck him. |
